Yeah, Schmidt's playing here in Chicago on the 26th. Sounds like he doesn't -- or at least hasn't -- played out a whole lot. Should be worth checking out.

Fascinating stuff. Haven't seen or heard anything about Schmidt here in the U.K., but the album sounds promising.

Does anyone know offhand if the Chicago Reader is an entertainment publication or a daily newspaper? The piece on Johnny Pate by the same writer was equally noteworthy. I had no idea the man was even still alive.

I am shocked! Only because those three songs are incredible, in my opinion. They are certainly reason enough to pick up Best of Vol. 2.

Just pulled out the disc and listened to the songs in question and it's damn hard to tell it's not Fahey playing. Very strange story.

twelve years pass...

charlie was at the 1000 roses fest, closest i'll ever come to seeing fahey. he was channeling the spirit for sure. we coincidentally went to the same college so i complimented him a day later when i saw him in a hallway at the venue and it seemed like it made his day to hear that he was a perfect mimic/channeler. apparently the guy who told charlie that his recordings were on the best of comp is from mpls too, because i met him also
