I did just get a huge increase on my credit card limit!

Wayne Coyne and Kid Koala should have a DJing cars battle.

dyson, dude, Sixtoo's playing for free at Soundscapes tomorrow night. I'm going to that one. You can make both events.

But, yeah, this thing would just be nuts if R Murray Schafer got involved.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 16:18 (nineteen years ago) link

that's right i totally forgot about the soundscapes thing - see you there!

The 700-children-plus-kid-koala thing in brampton is an afternoon affair ie you can catch Sixtoo at Lee's later on.

Brampton? Ain't that farm territory?
I heart Kid Koala.

the noise parade thing starts (according to 2 of 3 sites) at 7:00 so i don't think doing both is possible.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 12:52 (nineteen years ago) link

I stand corrected. Sorry.

superultramega (superultramarinated), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 17:49 (nineteen years ago) link

Hey dyson, looks like I may unfortunately actually stay home tonight. My friend bailed on me. Let us know how it was if you go.

I found it under a tree.

It has no barcode, let me see if I can find out where it may be gotten.

i'm listening to the new Kid Koala album (12 Bit Blues) and it's pretty nice. very tight conceptually.

yup, it is.
though i do feel like i'm listening to little axe at various points as they too use old spoken dialogue in the same way.

Kid Koala/Emiliana Torrini album is out. It's nice - a 180 from any of his recorded material in the past. Eric plays all the instruments and employs no sampling and very little turntable manipulation. It's relatively beatless, orchestral and reflective music. Emiliana's vocals edge this into winter lullaby territory.

this is really lovely

sounds like his Satellite/Music to Draw To album? beatless, lots of piano and pretty ambiance. haven't heard the new one but that one gets a lot of play around the house.

oh i'm dumb, that is the new record. yeah it's great.

wait no! 'Space Cadet', the one that went with a graphic novel, is the one i'm thinking of. mostly piano, strings, etc

New album is fit for overlooked albums
Thread imo. Yeah it's a downer mostly, kind of like if stars of the lid did an album with vocals, but way more maudlin. Torrini rules though and is sorely underrated, her live album and fishermans woman are classics
