OK, first of all, I'm Purchase alum, so I know of what I speak.
The fest isn't actually called "Vulture Cock" but "Culture Shock." It's an annual hippie love-in on the great lawn. For us students, it was always Mardi Gras, the prom and Woodstock rolled into one. For three days EVERYONE on campus was out (and I'm going out on a limb here but at least 75% of Purchase students are awesome in some way or another - best. school. ever.).
Culture Shock went like this: "Get drunk. Go see William Hooker. Throw up. Get Drunk. See Arab on Radar. Throw Up. Get Drunk. Go see Destiny's Child. Throw Up. Sleep with a freshman. Go see Aesop Rock followed by a real live mariachi band. Throw Up..." Etc Etc Etc
It was great time. But beware! They tend to hassle off-campus folks (they will check IDs and if you don't attend the school, they'll kick you out. Lay low.
Culture Shock has always been great because great people book the bands. One year, Dave from Dementia 13 and Despot (Def Jux) were just two of the people on the committe.
Man I miss Purchase.
The worst was the year Gwar canceled because of rain.
Anyway, didn't this happen already?

Well, a silly scenester friend of Ian's was going to this. Ian wanted to, but could not, I'm pretty sure.
