Freddie, B.B., and Albert King walk into a bar. Alan King is bartending, and so is Larry... King Crimson is playing on the jukebox, while King Tubby busts a rhyme over "Larks Toungues in Aspic" ("A-beedley-beedley-bung, beedley-beedley-beedley-boy..." oh, maybe that was Yellow Man)... Anyway, a carriage horse from Lake George (coincidentally named "King") walks into the bar, sits down, and orders a drink (water on the rocks). Alan King says: "No problem, but why the long face?"

Purdie over Bruford any day, every day, in every way. Bruford knows not how to groove. Purdie oozes groove. Bruford can't keep a consistent tempo throughout the course of one single song.
But Fripp can be hip when thrown into the correct mix. Yet with Crimso, he comes across as uber-nerd attempting to please his egghead fans.

Well, I'd say that's because Brewford would rather fuck with superimposing other tempos than playing it straight, which is cool. His time is fine, and his jazz playing swings. But yeah, when it comes to the groove, Bernard Purdie is Bernard fucking Purdie.

It would have been fun to hear Lee Dorsey cover Crimson's "Easy Money" with Purdie on drums.

King Curtis could have enlivened King Crimson's Earthbound album.
