But I find that Propellar, Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes each run together as one fantastic massive song, so I would never separate any of them onto mixtapes or whatever. Those three records are brilliant.

I've been thinking about this, as I've been listening to the new Best Of (reviewing it for someone). "Echos Myron" really stands out for me. My favourite is "If We Wait" and it's a travesty that it isn't on that comp!

If you add the Sunfish Holy Breakfast EP to that list, I'm totally in agreeance. :)

Well, yeah, but...that's still probably around 1% of Pollard's complete recorded output.

Deric W. Haircare (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 18:16 (nineteen years ago) link

I have never "gotten" GBV. One of the most boring bands I've ever witnessed. I've been dragged to three different concerts and left every one early. Bob Pollard is a wanker and it makes me happy that they will forever live in the "indie"relm to be know by only a few. Good riddance GBV.

Catrin, Tuesday, 23 November 2004 18:19 (nineteen years ago) link

But Catrin, you didn't tell us your favorite GBV song!

catrin, Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:25 (nineteen years ago) link

can i put in my least favourite?

Fire away.

I'm surprised that out of three concerts, none impressed you. However, I've seen them about 5 times and they can definitely suck if Robert gets a little too drinky-drinky during the set.

"Cocksoliders and Their Postwar Stubble" has always been a favouirte song title of theirs. In fact the "Sunfish Holy Breakfast" is pretty damn good. GBV get more inspiring as I get older, in that it's not too late sorta way. Oh, and the "Watch Me Jumpstart" DVD is essential viewing.

Anyway, POX:

5. Drag Days
6. If We Wait

Here is a game I've been playing that you can play too: If you haven't put your favorites on but have a favorite that is not on the list, wait and see when somebody finally sends it in. Double check whether it isn't actually already there. My unpicked until recently fave was "Drag Days."

Ken L (Ken L), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 20:08 (nineteen years ago) link
