Blixa Bargeld: Classic or Dud?

Now he has houses in Berlin and China. His wife (who soon arrived at the restaurant) is Chinese, and beautiful. I've seen him around since then, at art openings and stuff. Last time he was wearing a straw boater, looking like a raffish minstrel. I'm not saying dud.

Errrrrrrrrrrr, dud in many ways. His voice (or lack of one) is one of the main reasons I gave up on Neubauten - so weedy and irritating.

So Blixa has been spending his lockdown writing a book, or possibly two books:

1) he's turning his journals / notebooks / diaries into a book

2) he's trying to write a "fictionalised autobiography"*

(i.e. similar to Europa Kreuzweise, in that none of the things in that book actually happened the way they were depicted, but if you read it, you get a very good versimilitude of what Blixa's life is like.)

He's great. I've been listening to Alles Wieder Offen again recently and his lyrics are amazing.

He is an excellent and charming raconteur and I have absolutely no doubt that his autobiography, fictional or 'real' will be an incredible read. This Prussian has lived 10x more lives than all of us put together.

Small things like the pun in the last line here:

Trust me, covid has fucked up Blixa’s life more than anyone... their crew lost like €30,000 when the tour was cancelled!

He’s had to leave Berlin because the infection rate in Mitte spiralled out of control. So he’s sitting out the plague in a house in rural Portugal, and he’s decided to write some books to keep him from going mad.

Anyway, enough gossip. I look forward to the books, even if he situation occasioning them is less than idea.

We (meaning my old housemate in NYC) used to have a cat named Blixa. It used to demolish things. Often crap goth records. Therefore, Blixa = classic.

Cats named after Blixa Bargeld do seem to be much more common than one would imagine, I must say.

The rate in Berlin Mitte is far from being out of control. It's about 70 out of 100,000. Very far below parts of France, UK, Czech Republic etc.

He may have felt the need to leave, but it's nowhere near out of control here.

I apologise. I've googled the figures, and it's now 130 out of 100,000. But it's still lower than many regions in Europe.
