Can we talk more about how horrible that Unplugged album was? I feel like there should be an eternal flame that makes sure we Never Forget.

And -- huh? -- what the fuck is "unsafe" about "admitting" the Fugees were "pretty nice"? Only someone who worried about what others thought of his/her taste could possibly ask that question. I liked the Fugees back in '96 or whenever, and they still sound > "nice" to me. WTF?

Sure, they could be earnest, but they could be funny too, which is a hard thing to pull off without inviting novelty act perceptions. The Fugees and solo Wyclef manage to do this, I think (sometimes).

Where would the Fugees be today if they'd stayed together/made more records? And, a tangential question, given all my opinionated crap above -- are they the hip-hop Pixies? Ha ha.

Wait... is all rap funny, anyway? I don't think so, I don't think you can be that general. Altho' it's an interesting thought that some (much?) of the humour has perhaps been missed by (white?) mainstream critics too busy seeing only threat.

(And I honestly don't understand what about it is so bad as to be considered an "incident".)

"Fu Gee La" is definitely bad-ass and smooth, and The Score was a great album in so many ways. Clef's mic-rocking abilities maintained pretty well for The Carnival, but it seems like they fell short after that (although he still writes some good songs, don't get me wrong..."Thug Angels" is THE SHIT).

Fu Gee La is dandy. I've yet to hear a Wyclef full-length (caught some singles) and would love too. Hell, I'm even curious about his version of "What's New Pussycat?" I'd also like to hear that Bono/Jean collabo for NetAid again, but I wouldn't be surprised if they destroyed all copies.

Listening to The Score for the first time in a decade or more. "The Mask" and "Cowboys" are a good 1-2.

If I'm honest with myself, The Carnival is one of my 10 favorite rap albums of the '90s (which is a bigger deal than it sounds, given how massive the pool of competition is).

Probably in my top 40 or so. Love that album to death.
