If you like Pavement (which you apparently do), you will like the DVD. If you do not like Pavement, you will be bored to tears by the DVD. All of the videos every released are on there and are excellent. The documentary and concert footage is kind of bland.

The Slanted reissue is great and totally worth it if you don't have Slanted and Enchanted already. Even if you do, it's worth it for the extras. Personally, I'd buy the CD first and then consider the DVD if you still have cash.

If you like Pavement because they stood around and looked bored, get the DVD. If you liked Pavement for reasons other than slacker fetishism, just stick with the albums.

if you like pavement, you very well might already have slanted & westing & watery, domestic & the trigger cut single and then you would have half of the slanted luxe & reduxe. the live show and peel sessions are pretty great though.

i think it was scheduled but the pavement reunion kinda got in the way (though I don't know why it hasn't come out since then). I'm sure they'll get around to it. there are supposed to be some pre-godrich sessions?

haha, i actually saw him the day before (or after?) that show in Long Beach. yeah he played w/ pre-recorded backing tracks, so I assume there is basically a full album of him demo-ing the terror twilight tunes.

tylerw, Tuesday, 12 November 2013 04:58 (ten years ago) link

It was a groovebox! Lol

The one holding this up is probably Spiral since he spearheaded all of the previous deluxe reissues but didn't get any songs onto TT.

DEBUSSY AND THE MAAD CIRCLE (lpz), Tuesday, 12 November 2013 06:34 (ten years ago) link

haw, terror twilight is definitely the most flawed pavement album, but it would not have been improved by spiral songs.

tylerw, Tuesday, 12 November 2013 16:32 (ten years ago) link

Well no shit, I'm just saying Spiral was kind of the driving force behind the 4 other reissues and he might not really care to get too heavily involved in reissuing the album he was all but pushed out of.

three years pass...

S&E is 25 years old today. Worth noting that VU&Nico just recently turned 50.

still sounds so good

interestingly, spiral recently rated TT pretty highly https://noisey.vice.com/en_us/article/rank-your-records-spiral-stairs-happily-rates-pavements-five-lps

Did you ever hear about the episode of Dawson's Creek where someone used this album title as parting words: " It's been thoroughly, uh... slanted and enchanted."
Oh boy. [Laughs] I never heard that, but some friends of mine in Austin during South By Southwest said they started a company that is for adopting plants that's called Planted & Enchanted. I can't get away from it!

well I know what thread *that* belongs on lol
