it does! but sadly the required in-room nerd factor seems to high to realistically attain in order to play a game

Shooter fans should definitely check out Raiden Legacy for solid ports of Raiden, Fighters, 2 & Jet. Touch controls work fine. Five dollar price point is good compared to the Cave ports. Also the games are more straight forward, so maybe better suited to iOS? Just remember to change the default screen setting from full screen to original, so you don't have to put your finger over the action.

damn that's impressive

Jibe, Monday, 10 December 2012 06:12 (eleven years ago) link

I'm terrible at these games -- I always get excited to see I'm in sane distance of best in the county or etc. and then invariably I'm below the 50% mark worldwide.

s.clover, Monday, 10 December 2012 06:24 (eleven years ago) link

*respect knuckles 2 broc*, think i'm burning out on it though, the amount of letter juggling and backtracking you have to do to get anything like that.

I liked Helsing's Fire and Amazing Breaker and Trainyard; can anyone recommend some more puzzle jams for me?

I'm playing Baldur's Gate on iPad. The team could have done a bit more work to make the interface appropriate for touch controls, but once you know what you're doing it's fine.

I never played BG when it came out, but I'm finding this 15 year-old RPG really, really entertaining. It's funny, the fights are deadly dangerous, and the statistics/inventory management aspect is suitably autistic. In Skyrim I can zoom in and rotate on any piece of treasure I find, but strangely I enjoy dumb pixelated swords in BG just as much.

magic is impressive, but now, minsc leads! swords for everyone!

Ticket to Ride for iPad is only $1.99 today (usually $6.99)

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 20:56 (eleven years ago) link

oh man, Baldur's Gate is seriously one of my favorite games of all time

TTR is fantastic but I'm too cheap to buy extra boards ;_;

rune raiders isn't bad but plays through fast.

dungeon village on sale, just snagged it.

Is nobody playing Baldur's Gate on iPad? :-(

fields of salmon, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 19:23 (eleven years ago) link

i played the heck out of it for the first couple of days but found a lot of the bugs to be frustrating. i'm currently giving it a rest to see if any updates come down the line to fix some of my issues

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (diamonddave85), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 19:25 (eleven years ago) link

dungeon village is way too addicting.

s.clover, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 19:26 (eleven years ago) link

i'm playing in it now (up to a 3 star village) but i wish it was a little more difficult!

"reading specialist" (Z S), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 19:29 (eleven years ago) link

but yeah, in typical kairosoft fashion, it's really addicting anyway.

"reading specialist" (Z S), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 19:29 (eleven years ago) link

at year 20 and i can't make five stars for the life of me.

i figure a second playthrough i'll understand how to do that.

s.clover, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 21:18 (eleven years ago) link

s.clover, here's a decent set of tips for making more income: http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/57496/what-are-effective-strategies-to-raise-my-income

(ignore the top tip, which is sorta cheating imo)

"reading specialist" (Z S), Friday, 4 January 2013 21:35 (eleven years ago) link

you may already know that stuff, but that revealed a few basic things that i had no clue about. i didn't know, for example, that adventurers buy items in the shop that they already have equipped. so it makes sense to give them expensive weapons/armor because then they'll go and purchase that item repeatedly at the store after that!

"reading specialist" (Z S), Friday, 4 January 2013 21:40 (eleven years ago) link

I guess I just got lucky, because I didn't really have a clue what I was doing, but I hit five stars on my first play through at around 11 years I think? Then from there up until the deadline I wasn't sure what to work on beyond turning everyone into robots. Anyway, final clear ponts score was 169,120 with 1,142,010 monies. Not sure whether that's good or not, these games need leaderboards.

JimD, Saturday, 5 January 2013 12:50 (eleven years ago) link

No games needs leaderboards. The top tens are always full of scores literally 100 times higher than your best and you just sit there looking at them thinking how? are you cheating? how? i don't get it, i just don't get it ;_;

Z S, Thursday, 10 January 2013 22:36 (eleven years ago) link

will never play again. but, as always with kairosoft games, well worth 99 cents!

How come none y'all fuckers told me there was Ticket to Ride: European Edition??? For a fuckin $1.99?!

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 11 January 2013 00:45 (eleven years ago) link

I dunno but I have it and it's pretty fun

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Friday, 11 January 2013 00:47 (eleven years ago) link

I have pretty much played the orig version to death and gotten most all of the achievements except for the absurdly challenging ones, but I haven't gotten nearly enough out of this, so it's rad as fuck to know there's a whole 'nother map out there.

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 11 January 2013 00:50 (eleven years ago) link

I paid full square enix price for ff4 and I dont regret it.. ff2 on the snes was the first game I ever bought for this console and the update is great.

Temple Run 2.

Jeff, Thursday, 17 January 2013 15:42 (eleven years ago) link

Is it good? I am sorta over Temple Run and was p disappointed w/ Temple Run: Brave

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 17 January 2013 15:46 (eleven years ago) link

Graphics are hugely upgraded. Scenery isn't as monotonous.

Jeff, Thursday, 17 January 2013 15:52 (eleven years ago) link

it'll be free so i'll get it, but i was also disappointed in TR: Brave. Punch Quest proved to me that you can still do new stuff with this genre, so i'll give this a chance

Nhex, Thursday, 17 January 2013 15:55 (eleven years ago) link

dammit what are some good iphone games for when you're on the run, have 2 minutes here & there, & you just want something to distract yourself from feel awkward just standing there waiting or w/e

really what I want is a good match 3 with leveling like dungeon raid, maybe I should just play it again?

Euler, Thursday, 17 January 2013 15:58 (eleven years ago) link

have you tried puzzle craft?

Mordy, Thursday, 17 January 2013 16:00 (eleven years ago) link

you betcha!

Euler, Thursday, 17 January 2013 16:02 (eleven years ago) link

wargames!

s.clover, Thursday, 17 January 2013 16:06 (eleven years ago) link

rocked that one too

just bought "dungeon story" & "puzzle saga", which look like cheapie knockoffs of aforementioned games + "Clash of Heroes" (which I loved) so here's hoping they'll hit the spot
