I don't recognize any of these songs apart from Thank You and That I Would Be Good so I wont be voting. Am I missing on something here? I have the idea that this sort of songs don't make any sense if you listen to them past seventeen.

this album was my LIFE in high school, i vividly remember stomping around campus listening to it and feeling like i could SO RELATE. which is a bit silly since so much of the album is absurdly specific to alanis's life and career, but i can see why i went for the baby-Buddhism present in "that i would be good" and "would not come" (i never liked "thank u," too ~mainstream~ i think).
i think i rate this album more highly than the songwriting merits because it's the last alanis album to mix self-reflection with anger, bitterness, and blame; after this she gets very new-agey and positivity-focused and the emotions she depicts don't feel as immediate. (she gets around this with "hands clean" by presenting a sordid situation in a deceptively matter-of-fact way, a kind of "just sayin'" that ends up being really unsettling, imo.) anyway i love the angry bits of this album, the petulance in "are you still mad," the fuming at how male anger is allowed to express itself in "sympathetic character," her wrestling with privilege in "i was hoping." and i have a soft spot for "the couch" even though it is basically a high school creative writing exercise set to music.
no idea what i'm going to vote for. in terms of songs i'd relisten to now, i really enjoy "front row" and "baba" sonically.

How does one follow-up the multi-million unit shifting Jagged Little Pill? With an overlong, overstuffed, over-wordy, far less accessible record that probably wasn't a good idea in a commercial sense, and not all of it hits the mark, and some of the lyrics are more than a bit silly. However, I'm glad that she made this record. Love 'Baba', 'Thank U', 'That I Would Be Good', 'UR', 'I Was Hoping', 'One' and 'Unsent' ...

i adore this album btw

like just for instance every verse of "unsent" starts off in about the corniest way imaginable and then winds up being extremely real, and that's sort of a microcosm of this album as a whole

Hmmm I don’t think I’ve ever heard this album besides “thank you”… I’ll listen to it right now

I remember seeing her do "That I Would Be Good" on Charlie Rose in 1999:

the first mp3 I ever downloaded was thank u, I downloaded it from mp3.com (lol) and as I recall it was the first time any major artist offered an mp3 of a new single, for free, to download, mp3.com!
my family was very impressed that we just had the new Alanis single on the family computer somehow? to listen to whenever, it was a pretty big deal please get off my lawn

I guess I should hear this album but I'm still haunted many years later by Alfred's suggestion that "you oughta know" has a part where she sings about going down on FLEA in a theater.
