Biggest issue will be the sound, no? When I've seen performances there the echo has been appalling because of the high roof.

The 1986 album is "Techno Pop". It's always been "Techno Pop", okay?

no it was supposed to be techno pop, then it was electric café and then it became techno pop

Wow. I really wanna see Autobahn or Trance Europe Express - but most people are gonna go for those first aren't they? I just wanna see Kraftwerk actually. I guess it may be easier to try for later nights - or is that not how the website / booking will work. Tactics, anyone?
― kraudive, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 17:24 (eleven years ago) link
I expect Computer World and The Man Machine would go before Autobahn.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 17:30 (eleven years ago) link
(cough) Trans.
Anyway, I just really meant - I'm not sure how the site would work. Is it even worth going for the less popular nights? The whole booking system may be busy so I guess I just try for what I really want (with a willing volunteer on another computer trying another night possibly?)
― kraudive, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 17:52 (eleven years ago) link
I'm probably going to go for a few nights, and take what I'm given...
― Neil S, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 18:16 (eleven years ago) link
well, this is fun

under no illusion but am still enjoying the communal experience of F5 along with 1 million other KW fans

Kraftwerk at Tate Modern has just gone on sale and we are experiencing a phenomenal demand for tickets which is affecting our web server.
HOW UNEXPECTED

Tate FB page a hotbed of frustration
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 09:51 (eleven years ago) link
I hate buying tickets for in-demand events these days. Stress and disappointment.

At work, using my phone with a redial rate of roughly once a second, not a sniff :(
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 09:57 (eleven years ago) link
what if you just had 'turned up' there this morning?
― Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:15 (eleven years ago) link
Tried this number O2O8 887 8888 after somebody mentioned it on the Tate FB link and got through on my second attempt, in the queue now.
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:25 (eleven years ago) link
ooh...
― Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:29 (eleven years ago) link
This from a dude on the Tate FB page.
Just been to the Tate , no tickets on sale there so don't bother going (due to no actual physical tickets). still plenty of digital tickets left though - but only via the phone - keep trying I guess
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:31 (eleven years ago) link
it's more fun to compute
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:33 (eleven years ago) link
Conflicting info on the new number, some people say they got tickets some wouldn't be put through, unsure what to do now.

Got tix for night 2, wasn't allowed to book more than one night.
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:03 (eleven years ago) link
wow! what number? how many redials?
― ledge, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:05 (eleven years ago) link
0208 887 8888 is the one I got through on
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:11 (eleven years ago) link
That's coming through as invalid now.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:11 (eleven years ago) link
Tried for roughly 2.5 hours on the original number then I saw on FB that people were getting through on the 8888 number and got through right away.
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:14 (eleven years ago) link
Oh shit!!! sorry 0207 887 8888 nor 0208
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:15 (eleven years ago) link
ah, I see what you did there!
― Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:15 (eleven years ago) link
Reading FB, people seem to have more luck on the 8888 number.
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:18 (eleven years ago) link
oh the irony of computer servers breaking down forcing people to book KW tickets on analogue phones
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:21 (eleven years ago) link
eh? most of these albums were recorded on analogue gear no?
― coal, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:39 (eleven years ago) link
No luck on the 8888 number.. getting familiar with the line busy tone...

― Neil S, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 12:10 (eleven years ago) link
I wonder if everyone answering the phone have gone on their lunch break? On hold for 45 minutes and counting.
― Moon Fuxx (Jill), Wednesday, 12 December 2012 12:44 (eleven years ago) link
got tix for radio-activity after 7 hours of trying the phone numbers and then 45 mins on hold, i feel like a shell of a man. guy on the phone said they still had a few for techno pop, the mix, tour de france.
― jabba hands, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 15:28 (eleven years ago) link
friend got some for Radio-activity too. I had to at least pretend to be doing some work, sadly.
― Neil S, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 15:42 (eleven years ago) link
radio6 just ran a piece about the people who turned up at ticket office in person eventually persuading them to sell them some tickets...
― koogs, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 15:49 (eleven years ago) link
Kinda annoyed that I wasn't allowed to buy tix for two different nights, has that always been the case?
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 15:53 (eleven years ago) link
It was always so, saw that when the original link was posted.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 15:55 (eleven years ago) link
original posting said:
"There is a four ticket limit per person for a single show and it is not possible to buy tickets for the whole series. This is to ensure a greater number of people get to experience Kraftwerk at Tate Modern."
― koogs, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 15:57 (eleven years ago) link
ah, I guess it didn't explicitly say "only can buy for one night", true.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 15:58 (eleven years ago) link
20 mins on hold, on the standard number, just yielded two tickets for Tour De France - which is the one I wanted all along. Faff and a half!
― mike t-diva, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 15:59 (eleven years ago) link
*sigh* I guess I'm a little slow, still, better that I had to make a snap decision on the phone than agonize about which one to go to for weeks.
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 16:00 (eleven years ago) link
So if I called back to buy for a different eve (but with the same credit card) I would be refused?
― MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 16:01 (eleven years ago) link
that is a rhetorical question i hope
