Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii passed away today. He served in Congress for more than 53 years (since Hawaii was admitted to the Union), was awarded a Medal of Honor after losing an arm on WW2, and was respected by politicians on both sides of the aisle. feel like there's also this sense in the conservative world that while most Jews are irredeemable liberals in addition to being Christ-killers, there are enough influential Jewish Republicans with Wall St money or w/e that it's best to avoid antagonizing them too much.

the whole conservative christian-israel/jewish thing is a whole... thing i dont feel like getting into but it's interesting how weirdly respectful they are, considering that, you know, jews aren't christians.

There's obscure eschatological concerns of some kind w/ the Israel thing, but I think the phenomenon of the "Judeo-Christian" dog-whistle might just be a racist assumption that if you bag on Jews you'll get blackballed by the media. (I have no evidence for this.)
