xxp - not sure about Dolly Parton;
This is the one I think was being talked about..

The Driftwood stuff has always been a bit expensive but this mix was put on RA the other week.

I've always been a Timewriter fan though.

anyone watching boilerroom? this confirms prosumer is the current best house dj.

I'm rather behind but the new Legowelt album is start-to-finish fantastic.

Matt DC, Thursday, 29 November 2012 12:22 (eleven years ago) link

xpost yeah it does sound a bit country and western to me. it's in that gerd panorama bar mix, pretty cool but given "it's you" is one of my all-time favourites it doesn't really do it. i can't get why people would pay so much as that's a record that you'll play once or twice and then never again, to me.

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Thursday, 29 November 2012 12:30 (eleven years ago) link

Prosumer really is the best, i nearly had a wee fit the other week when he dropped an m-series tune with a diva house tune on top for its entirity making an otherwise dreary night in hackney wick a bit magic (as long as i kept my eyes closed).

Whats the end of year feelings then? Ive not been DJing much this year so the compulsions to keep up has faded a bit. I do love a good december list frenzy, Ive been working in parties every weekend but theyve been of the tech house variety so pretty low on stand outs.

straightola, Thursday, 29 November 2012 15:27 (eleven years ago) link

thanks for the recommend on From the Far Future 2, wasn't impressed initially but stuck with it and glad I did

Brakhage, Thursday, 29 November 2012 19:33 (eleven years ago) link

Not seen mentioned here but Christian Löffler's A Forest is chock full of the accessible tech house Anders Trentemøller used to profer:

Really enjoyed that album, it was a good substitute for a new Pantha Du Prince record.

Nicholas Desamory, "Move Your Assets": http://soundcloud.com/nicholas-bussmann/sets/nicholas-desamory-like-you-1. Lush house w/ great vocals.

that would put me pretty far behind as well, but it really is quite solid. it may actually be his best release to date? not sure yet tbh

i'm just now catching up with the (surprisingly deep) 2012 l.i.e.s. catalog, 010.5 is an initial favorite:

The question remains, how can I tolerate/enjoy Benoit and Sergio and loathe Hot Creations. I'm feeling inconsistent.

Josiah Alan, Sunday, 9 December 2012 14:24 (eleven years ago) link

Benoit & Sergio have a much better sense of songcraft than a lot of their contemporaries.

ha, yea i feel weird talking about it on ilm cause there seems to be a lot of (in some cases very direct!) connections.hassan has some amazing cosmic vibes, btw, good work. you had to have a full band setup on those tracks, right?

does anyone know if delroy edwards is a real artist or a pseudonym? 4 club use only kills it

akadarbarijava (psychgawsple), Sunday, 9 December 2012 21:33 (eleven years ago) link

delroy edwards is not his real name, he's a young guy and this is (i'm pretty sure) his first record.

lol, this is the other way round for me. i still don't get why so many people really viscerally hate hot creations, they hit my sweet spot so often

#YOLO ONO (lex pretend), Monday, 10 December 2012 10:10 (eleven years ago) link

Well first of all they took one of my favorite electro producers and turned him into Maceo Plex, which is not a slight I'll forgive easily.

When your nice polite IDM producer starts to hang out with Jamie Jones and Damian Lazarus: watch out kids.

and some synths / drum machines.

i think he got a big initial chunk of his fanbase recording under the maetrik moniker, seems like semi-generic if still technically impressive tech-house was definitely a gateway drug

What is the word on L.I.E.S.?

studyplenty, Friday, 21 December 2012 20:31 (eleven years ago) link

Shit I can't read.

studyplenty, Friday, 21 December 2012 20:35 (eleven years ago) link

The Forward Strategy Group is really good, all clanging, metallic textures against industrial dones - makes me think of Andy Stott's recent material but played at 45 instead of 33.

how did I just now notice this via a year-end list today? Sounds up my alley, going to listen when I get home

three months pass...

Damn, how have I missed that Paranoid London track for so long? Been telling everyone about it only for them all to say they know it already.

So is it just me or are these incredibly similar?
They are quite similar. (Just in case you've been waiting for somebody to respond)

is there any reason for the lack of lil louis digital/cd releases? it sucks when I want to listen the conversation and all i have is this low volume vinyl rip with nonexistent bass.
