i'm SURE when "throw it up" dropped before the album everyone was blown away by it

lol yeah kid rock track was trash

some dude, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 14:36 (eleven years ago) link

i actually did listen to the yelawolf/travis barker EP, it was ok

some dude, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 14:36 (eleven years ago) link

The reviews I read of this year's Heart of Dixie mixtape all frame the tape around the premise that Radioactive was a potentially career killing disaster.

Also, Yela opens the tape by rapping “Why do I feel like I never had Marshall Mathers’ co-sign sometimes?/Like Radioactive failed? Maybe when I tell myself I’m one of the best, I’m just lyin’," so he seems to think something went wrong there, too.

Evan R, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 14:41 (eleven years ago) link

I co-sign w/ all the travesty talk.

This is Phantogram, by the way. I actually like them quite a bit but they have no place on a fucking Big Boi record. (Plus the collab they've already teased from the Big Boi record sucks.)

I'm just disappointed that he was unable to collaborate with Kate Bush.

were they? i remember some nice notices for the gangsta boo verse...that's about it.

it just might not jive with you (fadanuf4erybody), Wednesday, 21 November 2012 17:20 (eleven years ago) link

looking back at the yela thread, yeah some people put in good notices for the track, but no one was remotely as enthusiastic about it (or the album) as you

thraeds of life (The Reverend), Wednesday, 21 November 2012 19:19 (eleven years ago) link

'throw it up' is terrible. eminem is unlistenable in 2011

hahaha, OTM

So yeah, I feel like to the extent that Radioactive didn't kill Yelawolf's career, it's because not a lot of people actually heard it. Terrible album.

Evan R, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 19:33 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, and the problem isn't so much that he stopped rapping well so much as he just started making terrrrrrible creative decisions

between the gif big boi cover & trinidad james' entire existence it def feels like some kind of weird moment in atl

D-40, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 17:41 (eleven years ago) link

i still have no idea what a trinidad james is, just one day i woke up and that was a phrase being bandied about everywhere as if common knowledge

On thing I like about the song with Andre is that Tip sounds really relaxed in a way he hasn't often lately.

these bitches is my sons and i make dad jokes (The Reverend), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 23:10 (eleven years ago) link

that trinidad james gold track seems like a joke

(alternatively, “Respec’”) (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 23:36 (eleven years ago) link

before anyone asks i'll preface this by saying i have a promo, i don't think this has leaked

so i'm not sure yet if this is genuinely terrible or not but wow. every song i'm like "hmmm you know this one doesn't sound terrible" and then someone who isn't sleep brown comes to sing the chorus & it's just like *closes eyes, exhales slowly*

the wavves track is truly as bad as you imagined it would be

the '80s retro kelly rowland single is ok -- like a solange song by someone who can sing

RIP Gramp C (some dude), Wednesday, 5 December 2012 15:27 (eleven years ago) link

Yes I like that too. First half of the album holds up, then Big Boi keeps forgetting to rap and the guests take over and it all unravels.

Deafening silence (DL), Wednesday, 5 December 2012 15:30 (eleven years ago) link

Is it true the album contains the lines "we like to roleplay, put on some Coldplay"?

Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 15:35 (eleven years ago) link

It does indeed, on one of the worst tracks.
