Hoos has posted that pic elsewhere and I love it. He's ridiculously adorable.

Tucked in shirt is the clincher.

I found this embarrassment of horrible 12 year old 1987 fashion choices in the basement a few weeks ago:

When was the last one taken? I'm guessing mid 70's as there's a heavy "Donny & Marie" look to it.

snoball, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 14:02 (fifteen years ago) link

lol yeah, my sister was a big Osmonds fan. If I had to guess, I'd say 1978-79? I was born in November 1969, so that should give you an idea of the progression here.

Crossing the Mississippi. First thing I did after I got the casts off after surgery. I think I'm 10 here or thereabouts.

Me and some of the best writers & people I've ever known. National Poetry Slam, Albuquerque 2005. That's not Mountain Dew in the bottle.

man I miss poetry slam things - great way to meet chicks at a college town
one girl basically wrote a poem called 'do me' - needless to say she wasn't my type

CaptainLorax, Thursday, 5 February 2009 02:07 (fifteen years ago) link

except our poetry was all amateurish

sunny needless to say you look v v awesome in that bottom picture

roxymuzak, Saturday, 7 February 2009 00:53 (fifteen years ago) link

lol sunny, I had the same T-shirt (& I wasn't a huge fan of the band - I mostly liked the message the shirt communicated to the rest of the world).

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Saturday, 7 February 2009 01:00 (fifteen years ago) link

i was so in love with that record i would have married it.

JAM, DWANGELA, RELLY! (sunny successor), Saturday, 7 February 2009 03:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Sunny I had the same shirt too but in all black. There was something on the back too . . . was it a lemon fetus with a gun or something? That might have been the first band shirt I ever bought. I loved the shit out of that record too.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Saturday, 7 February 2009 04:01 (fifteen years ago) link

All you alt.grrls had Dando crushes. I remember all too well..

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Saturday, 7 February 2009 04:03 (fifteen years ago) link

roxymuzak, Saturday, 7 February 2009 04:04 (fifteen years ago) link

+ imo

roxymuzak, Saturday, 7 February 2009 04:04 (fifteen years ago) link

esp. after he smoked all that crack and all his teeth fell out!

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Saturday, 7 February 2009 04:07 (fifteen years ago) link

j/k. poor guy. I wish him well. FWIW I did like that record. I just liked Lovey more. Lemonheads were part of a brief dalliance I had with Amer-indie, wedged in between more serious long-term relationships I had with mopey Brit post-punk & the 'gaze.

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Saturday, 7 February 2009 04:11 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't know - I never had a big Dando crush but I did really like Hate Your Friends.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Saturday, 7 February 2009 04:24 (fifteen years ago) link

^^^this.

JAM, DWANGELA, RELLY! (sunny successor), Saturday, 7 February 2009 05:35 (fifteen years ago) link

sorry ladies. no offense - it's just that there were a lot of Dando crushes out there in those days, see.

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Saturday, 7 February 2009 05:42 (fifteen years ago) link

almost as many as there were j. hatfield crushes

mookieproof, Saturday, 7 February 2009 06:49 (fifteen years ago) link

I was more of a Toni Halliday man myself
