Oh yeah it got pulled about half an hour after the kerfuff blew up y'day afternoon. The manager claims he had no idea what kind of debate/night it was gonna be (hmm) and evebn the guy who designed the poster has posted a full and very upset apology saying he was a dick, didnt think at all about what he did and he's very sorry (and deleted the poster).

Its just this one guy who stayed on to defend the concept, wouldnt listen to anyone else, scoffed at people who told him he was mansplaining by saying "stop it with your shitty internet memes ffs" and the thread was at about 400 comments last I looked

And he's now saying "me and my wife are copping personal abuse messages so I'm not discussing this any further". Which you know, lol? Or not maybe.

to be fair, they did uncover that the Chinese Medicine shop was run by asians

Mates of 808 State (S-), Friday, 9 November 2012 04:59 (eleven years ago) link

no, they mistakenly claimed it was run by roundeyes who were forced to move to make room for asian shopkeepers.

can imagine if it's something like, say, 'regular comedy night' that someone else does the legwork on actually organising, they probably didn't know. i rex a few bar managers will prob take a bit more of an interest in lineups in coming weeks.

"There's more to the Click Frenzy webfail than is being reported. The Click Frenzy website was not down because of millions of shoppers, but millions of queries. There is a huge difference. These millions of queries were a result of the hundreds of thousands of people logging on, and all the feedback from the advertisement trackers overloading the database with queries which are sent between server and client. According to one shopper on my FB feed 'it takes three-plus pages to get through to the actual offer, and each of those pages has three or more advertisements on it'. Pretty simple to figure out what happened, as this is precisely how DDOS attacks occur. The simple solution to get the site working would have been to remove the advertisements, or at the very least make them static (but then the click-throughs couldn't be counted, so Click Frenzy couldn't claim to sell millions of impressions to the gullible advertisers and retailers who spent their money with them initially or in the future).
