WONDERLAND

David R., Wednesday, 2 May 2007 15:35 (sixteen years ago) link

haha but ohman i don't need to say falling off your bike drunk sucks
and that ER drunk/hungover + pain sucks more aowwwujgh

what also sucks is that alcohol incl beer has been smelling kind of gross to me and i have not been able to get past one drink in the past couple of wks! confusing. maybe the yoga has gotten to my equilibrium centres?
w33d remains fine however even though i forgot abt it for a while there.

bigtime

river wolf, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 15:39 (sixteen years ago) link

Starting to think biking life is a series of close calls...? Rode home last night in thunderstorm with glasses rain-slicked so that every light blinded me, couldn't see potholes/dips under all the water, at some point my blinky light fell out and is gone, tried to avoid metal grates for slippage factor but hit a couple, etc. Nuts. Buying helmet this week.

Laurel, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 15:51 (sixteen years ago) link

robyn did i see you at trans am last night

s1ocki, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 15:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Laurel, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 15:54 (sixteen years ago) link

s1ocki, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 15:56 (sixteen years ago) link

Trayce, Thursday, 3 May 2007 00:40 (sixteen years ago) link

laurel i can not recommend helmets enough, esp for drunk biking!

tehresa, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:05 (sixteen years ago) link

I actually told guy at store today that I was only really buying a helmet for one organized ride and for drunk biking. He was sort of shocked? but laughed.

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:47 (sixteen years ago) link

so many horror stories of people in my parents' cycling club makes me think that even though helmets are not so fashionable, they are a+++++!

tehresa, Thursday, 3 May 2007 02:03 (sixteen years ago) link

i mean, that's a given being that they are head protection, etc.

tehresa, Thursday, 3 May 2007 02:03 (sixteen years ago) link

i am never ever ever drinking again. never. i mean i felt fucking awful on getting up, and then it just kept on expanding until a i felt like a creature from another planet. Was getting a long-ish coach ride home, and it was just deepening like a coastal shelf into all areas of my physical and mental existence, and then some cheerful italian fuckers started singing along to despacito and i thought I was going to have a portal haemorrhage.

Fizzles, Sunday, 8 July 2018 16:59 (five years ago) link

My system teetered between exhaustion from being up until 1:45 a.m. and wanting to submit to a hangover; fortunately, it settled on mere exhaustion.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 8 July 2018 17:11 (five years ago) link

i kind of love being hungover (ok, maybe not the ones Fizzles is describing) esp when accompanied by the memory of a fun night; feeling the sugar(?) in your veins, shameless languor, always makes me nostalgic

flopson, Sunday, 8 July 2018 17:49 (five years ago) link

uh

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 8 July 2018 17:52 (five years ago) link

i think im decided never to get drunk again but ive no intention of stopping drinking

is this a realistic aim fzls

repartee is deft (darraghmac), Sunday, 8 July 2018 17:57 (five years ago) link

i think so. i had a period where i thought i’d kind of nailed it, and was having four days off booze entirely per week and my consumption even then was v restrained and only in the area of pleasurable enjoyment. and it felt *great*.

then i went all GO BIG GO BIG HIT LES last night. this weather hasn’t helped.

flopson - a version of me knows what you mean and had on occasion described a hangover as “strangely productive” - a sort of fluency and focus out of a slight reduction in sensory capacity. but that version of me is dead now, and i know no hangovers other than this.

did i mention constant waves of sensing that i’m about to hurl?

Fizzles, Sunday, 8 July 2018 18:13 (five years ago) link

was real route one drinking.

Fizzles, Sunday, 8 July 2018 18:14 (five years ago) link

lol yea i may be about to age out of enjoying hangovers , should enjoy it while it lasts i guess

repartee is deft (darraghmac), Sunday, 8 July 2018 18:16 (five years ago) link

I like that my appearance in this thread petered out significantly after 2007-08. Boy was I bad back then lol.

Dont think ive had a puke-level hangover in a long time now.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Monday, 9 July 2018 06:05 (five years ago) link

Ouch! There is no way I would try to go into the office in that state at this point in my life.
