What if there's a tie for 1st?
― Joe, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 13:28 (sixteen years ago) link
if there is a tie for first, we'll just have a runoff poll.

I vote for Les Stances A Sophie.
― Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 15:23 (sixteen years ago) link
I can't remember: Which is the one that had that big "CHICAGO" emblazoned on the cover? I used to own that one. That wasn't bad. (Worth the $1 I paid for it, anyways.) I vote for that one.

Have you ever noticed that if you put all the album titles together, it spells 'Chicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicagochicago'?
― NickB, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 16:50 (sixteen years ago) link
I wonder what it all means?
Hmm...don't recall ever seeing that cover before. But I remember the one I owned as having a pretty forgettable cover; so, that may be it.

I bet Chicago will get the lurker vote.

This would've been a funnier joke with an artist whose albums weren't all very clearly numbered.

― If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:31 (sixteen years ago) link
first album is called "Chicago Transit Authority," and it's pretty frickin' good, no joke. "Chicago II" also worth the time, even if the lyrics start to get a little meh. EVERY OTHER CHICAGO ALBUM IS TOTALLY INDEFENSIBLE.

It was a toss-up between "Chicago" and "Chicago", with "Chicago" getting the edge because of that one song.

Favorite piece of Chicago trivia: They started doing their double albums -- triple if you count the live one -- and multiple-movement suites as a James William Guercio-masterminded plot to get additional songwriting royalties for the band from Columbia. Once record companies decided to only pay ten royalties per record, they immediately went to ten tracks on the next album (Chicago V) and only did one more double album ever.

LMAO this was hilarious.
Also, I hate this band. There's maybe an LP's worth of stuff I can stand and even then only a couple of songs that I'd ever want to put on myself (like "25 or 6 to 4" even though there's an elephantine quality to the horn charts and melody that keep me from completely enjoying it).
