i don't think there's any way in hell i'd listen to this album all the way through, yet i love or like every song on it apart from the duets.

I like the color palettes in this video, though I feel like the song is now about 5 years old. Why'd they take so long to make a video?

the song it's following up only fell out of the top 10 last week, they're just staggering the singles in the usual way (xpost)

this song would have been a great summer jam had "call me maybe" not snatched that title away from every other song in existence

Katherine otm. "Your Heart is a Muscle" and "This Kiss" are at least as good as "Call Me Maybe

I can see it with 'This Kiss' but 'You Heart Is A Muscle' is awful, largely because it's a clunky title and a very clunky lyric to use in a chorus.

I forget who brought up the idea that this would make a really good mashup with dancing on my own but this was a while back when it was an album track and now that it's actually a single it might actually be possible

katherine, Sunday, 24 February 2013 20:45 (eleven years ago) link

okay I had absolutely no idea that "Call Me Maybe" was mixed by Dave Ogilvie

no wonder it sounds so fucking awesome

Would love to know if whoever did that mashup with NIN already knew -- I suspect they did.

"Call Me Maybe" singer cancels Boy Scout concert over gay ban

Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen on Tuesday pulled out of a concert for the Boy Scouts of America because of the organization's ban on gay members, becoming the second headliner to pull out of the Scouts' Summer Jamboree show.

Jepsen, whose hit single "Call Me Maybe" was nominated for Grammy Song of the Year, said on Twitter that she would not perform for the Boy Scouts because of her support for gay rights.

"I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level," Jepsen, 27, said.

Rock band Train also said last week they would not play the concert at the Boy Scouts' National Summer Jamboree, set for July in West Virginia, unless the youth organization changed its ban on gay participants.

Very nice SOS article, and good to see Carly is right-on too.

When I found out there was a Call Me Maybe acapella a few months back I started work on an acid remix one afternoon. I never got around to going back to it, so here’s the demo version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/10coepmcis43xvr/Matty%20Balaam%20-%20Call%20Mescaline%20%28Super%20early%20demo%29.ogg

I think every single song on here except fucking "Good Time" ended up growing on me well beyond what I imagined was possible on my first listen. So, actually, this album rules more than it did before.

Does anyone know who did the version/remix which loops the "I threw a wish in the well/Don't ask me I'll never tell" bit over and over with a super bright production thing going on (kind of bubblegum bass-y), techno build dynamics, breakdown etc. I heard this out at a club and it was amazing then I somehow streamed it somewhere but misidentified the track and now I can't find it. Got a feeling it's a UK producer wot did it, maybe? Help!

Cheers
