in fairness i don't doubt that jjusten would have loved to pull the trigger on this one if he knew in time so no hard feelings?

1. for the millionth time, the change from sb to fp was a 100% rhetorical change. the issue was that suggest ban sounds aggro, and flag post sounds less so. it is the exact same system! the success is in the fact that people use it differently because of the connotations, but the under the hood aspect is exactly the same, when someone gets 51, they get banned.
2. nah one is specific to me, and the other is a generalized issue that seems to have come up a lot recently

i was appalled at that post amateurist made to morbs, i think that was clear. i flagged the post, which iirc i've never done before. a thread was started criticizing mod inaction on the subject and i (truly) agreed with its literal implications but also didn't mind its longer-running anti-mod roots. i admit the latter was childish, though i don't think it reflects at all on my position wrt the situation itself. i regret the implication i 100% brought on myself and somewhat resent what mooks and wmc said regarding this

kev how many times have you had to backtrack and apologise to mods after unfairly criticising them? I'm guessing it's running into dozens now. You should maybe take that into account before adopting the usual injured innocence imo.

can we assume J0rd has spent a) more or b) less than 5 hours putting together a list of every time Morbz has called for another poster's death or multiple posters' deaths, so that the mods can add up all of those and give him three days for every instance?

I don't really know how sub-board moderation works so I don't know if I can make it happen for you, sarahell, but tbh I have no objections.

I'm totally ok if other mods decide to shorten the ban.

I posted in the Admin Log Watch thread but I'll post here too - I've checked out the context, and while I honestly couldn't tell if it was poorly-rendered gallows humour or a seriously aggressive post (it was a bad post either way), I'm in favour of this not being a permaban. Unless they're an old user in a new name, they don't have much history here and most of their posts are perfectly innocuous, so a temp ban seems preferable.

i've luckily never struggled with depression, but i have many friends and family members who have. ilx has documented at least one suicide attempt and plenty of suicidal ideation. there is a way to do gallows humor without crossing a line which should be pretty obvious to most intelligent people.
