as for potential for real hurt mods better come up w/a better policy than locking threads, ignoring warning signs/cries for help, and praying everything turns out ok

its def not hilarious. my point is more that idg why there is an entire thread about how we shouldn't let posters pile on each other etc etc but k3vin's bullshit is excused and overlooked because its somehow "hilarious".

I thought RS was responsible for that comment which I thought was funny at the time. If there's a whole thing around it and it's been following you around then I don't know about any of that.

i don't know this thing just reminds me of the cliques that evolve on here. even wcc has a handful of defenders and speaking up for when she goes on a tear about something. but i've repeatedly asked to not have to deal with this bullshit with k3vin and not one fucking person is willing to come to my defense. like, ugh, fuck this place lately.

no one is coming to k3v's defense, jon. the only reason he mentioned the race thing is bc he saw you posting on this other thread and he saw an opportunity to do some troll-dmg. he was successful as you can see bc the thread was shortly locked thereafter. it has nothing to do w/ you. no one thinks him mentioning you was praiseworthy or excellent in any way.

Jon, fwiw, which I realize is probably not much coming from me, I do not think ill of you all the time. I think you're mostly like a well meaning guy who sometimes gets a little heated up over things that are more lol internet than anything else.

and gee, this is the exact same thing i've gotten "heated up" over before. so its obviously is something that bothers me. we're all asked to tread lightly around other posters for fear of upsetting them, but i'm being very specific about something i'd like to stop and still my wishes aren't being respected. it may seem ridiculous to you, but it really makes me uncomfortable and makes me not want to contribute to ilx.

mods i woud like you to take action to further prevent my good name being associated with the inclusion of the potato farl in the traditional fryup.

jon, i am sad that a poster who is regularly unpleasant is being unpleasant to you. he is being a dick, and i too would like him to stop.

however, there is not an ilx clique in the way you are thinking of it? it is true that posters who post more often and more conversationally on specific threads tend to be conversed with more on threads with a similar profile. this isn't cos there's some selective inner group, it's cos people feel like they know each other and can therefore talk with each other more readily. i regularly feel outside of it too! but it's not a clique, it's not a gang, it's not planned, it's just people.

in this thread the reactions to kk's failure of a forced meme have been:

one person has called it hilarious
one person has apologised and said he won't do it again
one person has said 'i know it annoys you but i wish you'd make it a running joke'
one person has said 'if you ignore it he will forget, here is a story about when this thing happened to me'

one full apology out of four responses is not a good ratio but it's also not people massed against you.

Xxxposts OTM. Ilx can sometimes feel like a hivemind, or just one person that suffers from manic switches in opinion, but it's not as oppressive as that - it's lots of people with many many different thoughts and opinions and senses of humour they're either expressing or choosing not to express. fwiw I have no idea of the background behind this but as far as I'm concerned you're one of the better posters, particularly on ilm, so I'd protest against you not posting here.

Jesus Christ, this is the fucking internet and I say that as a pretty thin-skinned person with easily hurt feelings who has cried (yeah, you read that right) over ILX comments/threads a handful of times. While I agree that people shouldn't be dicks as a general rule and, more specifically, that Kev should maybe be told off if this is really a repeated thing that Jon has been vocal about, I also think that as adults we should be able to take a deep breath, step away from the computer and realize that none of this actually matters or is worth getting upset about in any major way. If your mental health is not in a state that allows you to do that then perhaps you should be asking yourself whether or not an internet message board is the best place for you to spend your time hanging around.
