Almost everything about early WW is O_O -- nonstop B&D, for one thing. I have a CD of scans around here somewhere...they are amazing reading.

DJP, I'll try to hunt up that disc and post some stuff over the weekend. William Moulton Marston's wiki page is a pretty interesting read.

Marston's "Wonder Woman" is an early example of bondage themes that were entering popular culture in the 1930s. Physical submission appears again and again throughout Marston's comics work, with Wonder Woman and her criminal opponents frequently being tied up or otherwise restrained, and her Amazonian friends engaging in frequent wrestling and bondage play. These elements were softened by later writers of the series, who dropped such characters as the Nazi-like blond female slaver Eviless completely, despite her having formed the original Villany Inc. of WW's enemies (in Wonder Woman #28, the last by Marston).

Just want to add that I don't think B&D itself is O_O in any way, just the fact that it suffused WW comic books from the 1940s that sold hundreds of thousands of copies per issue.

I sort of feel like if B&D itself isn't O_O in any way, you are doing it wrong

Those are from Sensation 33, 35, 40 and 41 btw. The basic plots are fairly standard Golden Age piffle, it's just that the particular perils usually involve binding.
