which guitars actually smash instead of just the neck breaking off? does the wood have to be hickory?

it's weird how Billie Joe seems to have not only totally avoided the common advanced-aging ravages of prolonged meth use, he actually looks like he has not aged at all

question from a uk'r who knows nothing re the people behind this corp shyte :

was this broadcast live, or, edited and pre airing edit meant the good'old folks missed this rant ?

if live, then fair play, it's a blast of 'tude that is rarely seen these days, and almost makes me want to discover an album by this lot, if however, this was recorded, then f*ck what's the point.

and i'm sorry, but the story re substance abuse came out way to quickly

- seems like a cover your ass story as opposed to just admitting that the band were seriously f*cked off with being messed about.

i mean in pr terms what's the best hit : mid life hissy fit vs drugs related outburst

?

The Green Day Angry Birds game on Facebook has been updated with new levels and another new song preview.

...Angry Birds game.

As I've been muttering elsewhere, hope you get to fling a guylinered bird screaming about doing this since 1988.

GET EXCITTEEEEEEEEEDDDDD

da croupier, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 19:20 (nine years ago) link

Judy Greer, Fred Armisen and Selma Blair have joined Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong in music drama “Geezer.”

The cast additions come as director Lee Kirk begins lensing in New York City. Producers are Tim Perell of Process Media and Alex A. Ginzburg and Tony Lee of Let It Play.

Dallas Roberts, Chris Messina and Brian Baumgartner are also starring.

“Geezer” centers on the mid-life crisis of a husband and father who, on his 40th birthday, decides to revisit his punk-rock past by throwing an extravagant party in the presidential suite of the Drake Hotel — where he encounters his beautiful ex-girlfriend and former bandmates who have since moved on to bigger and better things.

The film will include new songs written and performed by Armstrong.

“The initial seeds for ‘Geezer’ were planted a couple of years ago, when my son was born within weeks of my fortieth birthday,” said Kirk. “Billie Joe Armstrong brings an exciting authenticity to the film. He’s a dad, he’s a musician and he’s an incredible talent.”

green day and weezer are mutual fans aren't they? why not form a supergroup with that name?

dirnt is cool and an underrated contributor to its sound

4 real

like the front half of every one of their lines is the attack on the maxxed out guitars that then just dully keep grinding it out

the second half is where all the movement inside the monotonous parts is and it's all dirnt

j., Thursday, 7 July 2016 01:19 (seven years ago) link

also that almost always makes him sound like he's way behind the beat, dunno if he is or not, but it really makes them sound simultaneously lazy/slackery and agitated since he's behind but moving around a lot

Middle-aged white dude "YEAH! I'M REBELLIOUS!" signifiers remain not just the worst but the dullest and most obvious. (Signed, 45 year old white guy, don't tweet at me, etc.)

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 11 August 2016 17:17 (seven years ago) link

no, it's true. it's remarkable that they had a career renaissance with American Idiot, which I really like, very good record, but everything they've made since (not much, admittedly), has been beyond bad. self-parody/lazy/phoned in rebelliousness. but they're in the hall of fame now, so they don't have anything to worry about.

flappy bird, Thursday, 11 August 2016 17:34 (seven years ago) link

i like the cover.

I quite literally rode a bus by the club in Costa Mesa where there were already a slew of people waiting for the secret show that night where they premiered a lot of songs from all three of those albums. I have to wonder how many of them thought it was worth it.
