it dug up the grout between tiles in the kitchen floor!? wtf?!
grout/dust/whatever (that floor is so gross)
looking for crumbs probably

Machibuse '80 (ex machina), Monday, 31 July 2006 14:01 (seventeen years ago) link

too bad we did not go for an aug 1 move!
mouse/rat is still here!

i did an experiment - washing kitchen floor, leaving for many hours, coming back to see if it had dug up floor again. it did. :( :( :(

how can it dig the floor so much yet not be suckered in by luscious peanut butter in the trap!?

i spent the better part of an evening with a tupperware container trying to wrangle a mouse in our old oakland apt. finally got him. let him run loose in the park.

maybe we need a gluetrap too?

Machibuse '80 (ex machina), Tuesday, 1 August 2006 10:30 (seventeen years ago) link

that peanut butter is old also

Machibuse '80 (ex machina), Tuesday, 1 August 2006 10:30 (seventeen years ago) link

it's probably eating the floor due to pregnancy cravings.

pika chu!

killy (baby lenin pin), Tuesday, 1 August 2006 11:21 (seventeen years ago) link

they don't care how old the peanut butter is though. i would set a trap and wait literally 2 months or more and THEN they'd go for it, by that time i'd forgotten it was there and only the mouse stink let me know :(((((

nazi bikini (harbl), Tuesday, 1 August 2006 12:26 (seventeen years ago) link

it is like, natural peanut butter too. do you think they'd be more likely to go for a more popular, sweet brand?

yeah, maybe we sould just set like, 10 traps and it will have to run into one of them eventually.

maybe i will sprinkle bacon bits on the peanut butter!

do you mean like, bacos (not actually bacon) or actual pieces of bacon chopped up?

tehresa needs more out of this relationship than she's willing to put in (tehres, Tuesday, 1 August 2006 13:47 (seventeen years ago) link

i worked at a dentist's office that had rats. what always worked was to fill up a bucket with water and float some food in the middle. the rat would get in but he couldn't get out and he would drown. disgusting.

killy (baby lenin pin), Tuesday, 1 August 2006 13:48 (seventeen years ago) link

whoa rad

Machibuse '80 (ex machina), Tuesday, 1 August 2006 14:37 (seventeen years ago) link

oh yeah mine was natural peanut butter too...maybe that's why they didn't like it. i always wanted to try the bucket kind of homemade traps but i don't think my mice ever got on the counter or on any raised surface or anything, just on the floor. like how do they get up into the bucket?

fucking mosquitoes here. they are impossible to destroy and bit me all night. WHAT TO DO??

Fetchboy (Felcher), Thursday, 10 August 2006 18:53 (seventeen years ago) link

VACUUM THEM! Do you have a vac with hose attachment? Good for all kinds of bugs.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 10 August 2006 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

can bugs get out of vacuums?

nazi bikini (harbl), Thursday, 10 August 2006 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Not after they've been sucked though the very fast FAN that produces the flow of air!

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 10 August 2006 19:21 (seventeen years ago) link

I have no vacuum! 8[
we've got fly paper but it only seems to take care of fruit flies. maybe i should slice my palm open and drip the blood all over the fly paper?

Fetchboy (Felcher), Thursday, 10 August 2006 20:26 (seventeen years ago) link

flue traps catch real flies (not fruit), so probably mosquitos too.

nazi bikini (harbl), Monday, 21 August 2006 16:42 (seventeen years ago) link

i want to trap him humanely so i can look at him when he isn't dead. but the only humane traps i know of are ones where he has to be elevated to fall in or ones that cost like $12 (no)

nazi bikini (harbl), Monday, 21 August 2006 16:45 (seventeen years ago) link

it fell in the sink and died when i was away

-- (688), Monday, 21 August 2006 16:48 (seventeen years ago) link

you can release them from glue traps like i used to do by pouring a little rubber cement solvent on the trap. just carry it a couple blocks away so it doesnt go right back in your bldg.

=[[ (eman), Monday, 21 August 2006 17:17 (seventeen years ago) link

they usually seem to have broken legs and stuff from glue traps though :(

This poor confused mouse; my slovenly crumb dropping ways brought him here, and now my cruel traps will take him out. The life of a mouse is unfair.

the key to getting rid of mice from your house, i've discovered recently, is to not have food lying around
