My Dad's got loads of dodgy lingo. Me and my friends always laughed at him doing the "fished in!!" thing from Wayne's World, cause he always did the gills backwards.

Plus, he'll still eat up anything with Steve Martin in it. Or De Niro.

my father once tied a stuffed black cat to a string, strung it over a pipe and tied it to the door in one of the walk-in coolers in his kitchen. the guy that was in charge of the stock room hated cats. when red went to put the morning deliveries away, the cat came swinging out, scaring the hell out of him.. red didn't speak to my father for a week and would break into hysterics everytime we went down to the stockrooms.

now he sends me the talk-radio type jokes. usaully about liberals and or democrats.

three weeks pass...
buenas dias de Mexico. We are back in San Christobal after spending two days in rural Mexico, mixing it up with the campesinos and helping them to harvest the coffee. In three hours I was able to pick tres canastas (not the musical groupo as you might imagine). We existed on sopa and our last meal before our departure contained the turkey that was strolling the grounds of the adobe when we set off in the morning. Talk about getting to know where your food comes from. If I can figure out the email possibilities within the Kodak share program that you helped me to install, I may be able to send you off a picture or two. My favorite so far is the picture of the woman holding three live chickens in the market. In any event I´d much rather party with her than with some of the HS kids that are along on the trip. I suspect that some of them might have thought they were signing up for Cancun. BEing called to lunch. See ya later.

My dad sends me born-again e-mail's. It's okay, I know his heart's in the right place. Last night, he forwarded along to me this picture followed by a passage from Phil 4:13.

http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/639/unknown5oi.jpg

However, underneath all of the forwarded addresses from all the other forwardees, I spotted this line from the original sender:

HE is the only one that can save this country from the liberals that want him removed from the government. Our great nation will not stand if we delete HIM from all aspects of our government as the atheists want.
I wrote back to my dad saying Thanks, But No Thanks. He wrote me back saying that he felt played, but then he sent me this response he sent to the original sender:
You know, I saw this message and thought it was sweet, so I fowarded it tomy son, If I had read it closer I would have SEEN that CONSERVATIVE RHETORICAL BULLSHIT that preceded it. Don't disguise or contort the meaning of Christ with your narrow inhumane views, it makes me sick and I already told you that...don't mix George Bush and Jesus Christ with me..it won't work!
So yay for my pops.

father in lawz r scary 2:

This is a must read - it's short but very informative!

The Muslim religion in the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!!!

Allah or Jesus? by Rick Mathes

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their belief systems

I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had! to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.

After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.

When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"

There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!"

I responded, "So, let! me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to Heaven. Is that correct?"

The ____expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He sheepishly replied, "Yes."

I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr.Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to Heaven!"

The Imam was speechless.

I continued, "I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah who tells you to kill me in order to go to Heaven or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going! to Heaven and He wants you to be with me?" You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.

Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with Rick's way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about the Muslim's beliefs.

I think everyone in the US should be required to read this, but with the liberal justice system, liberal media, and the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized. Please pass this on to all your e-mail contacts.

This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well known leader in prison ministry.

Adam Rice Lacucaracha (nordicskilla), Friday, 3 March 2006 17:59 (eighteen years ago) link

This paragraph boggles my mind:

I think everyone in the US should be required to read this, but with the liberal justice system, liberal media, and the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized. Please pass this on to all your e-mail contacts.

because THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT THINK THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IS LIBERAL!?!?!

i called my dad right after he sent that e-mail and he said he had seen the beyonce video in a hotel room or something, while he was at a conference, and thought it was pretty cool.

he also said he's giving a multiple-choice quiz to his students and is including "ludacris" as a choice for a question about a character's name in, like, a faulkner story or something.

I have attached two I drafted letters.

The first on Takings and Eminent Domain is being debated in the SC Legislature. Contact Bob Leach; District 21 representative, and State Sen. Verne Smith on this:

These two will require separate e-mail messages to be created. Remember to edit the “To” for the right person and to add your name and address (in SC).

J. Verne Smith: SLC@scsenate.org

Bob Leach: RWL@schouse.org

The second topic is the pitiful White House crap on energy

For the Senate, you must fill out their online forms, then just copy/past the text in the message box.

Jim DeMint: http://demint.senate.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=Contact.Home

Lindsey Graham: http://lgraham.senate.gov/index.cfm?mode=contactformhttp://lgraham.senate.gov/index.cfm?mode=contactform

Now how could this make political action easier?

Friends' dad:

Renee and Nnacy,

Thanks Renee for the CD of Aimee Mann. It sounds good. The only question I have is whether her backup electric guitars are very loud. The reason I asked this is that when I first turned it on at the same volume as I play my classical CDs it was much too loud. It may be that the level classical and pop music is recorded is different. However, I don't want my ears blasted. I sent this E-Mail to Nancy because she may have seen her, so Nancy, if you've been to her concerts, let me know if her electric guitars are loud.

i can only imagine the funny emails from my dad, who is cool in an outdoorsy westcoast introvert way but has let the digital world bypass him almost entirely. i think the only way he would ever have email is if i bought him an ipad and he figured out which places in his (very urban) neighbourhood have free wifi. like hey, the library. pretty sure he doesn't know what wifi is though.
