it is more Irish 3 step: his LP is called Lord of the Dance.

GALKIN (GALKIN), Sunday, 6 August 2006 21:48 (seventeen years ago) link

he stole that from me.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 6 August 2006 22:07 (seventeen years ago) link

will he ever release a single about "the troubles", like U2 or the Cranberries?

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 6 August 2006 22:07 (seventeen years ago) link

ronan you should do a conceptual "troubles" mix.

HPSTRKRFT (haitch), Monday, 7 August 2006 00:36 (seventeen years ago) link

The original name of the band was Shit O'Robot, but we made him change it because it sounded too "ethnic".

Actually maybe the record should be called "O'Shit" to play up the Irish angle.

i am serious!!!

JABBA JABBA!! NIB NIB!! (vahid), Monday, 7 August 2006 02:27 (seventeen years ago) link

seriously cRaZy!

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 7 August 2006 04:11 (seventeen years ago) link

HPSTRKRFT I can imagine a perfect segue from Clannad into a house record.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 7 August 2006 09:37 (seventeen years ago) link

shit robot rocks the same epic orchestral steez as a "strings of life" or "journey of the dragons"

JABBA JABBA!! NIB NIB!! (vahid), Monday, 7 August 2006 19:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Shit Robot reminds me of Heldon. And that is great fucking thing to be reminded of.

Dave Segal (Da ve Segal), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 04:54 (seventeen years ago) link

for once i'm with with vahid... pure detroit techno! (ok, with some impure disco or whatevah. but MOSTLY pure.)

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 08:27 (seventeen years ago) link

Mostly pure disco is right. I think that it would make sense to differentiate between Wrong Galaxy and Triumph here, though...Wrong Galaxy is much more along what you're saying, Philip. Triumph is much much too disco to be techno.

trees (treesessplode), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 18:50 (seventeen years ago) link

i can't hear any detroit in it at all.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 18:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Shit Robot reminds me of Heldon

ha, I ref'd Pinhas in a pfork track review for "Triumph"!

Dominique (dleone), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 19:33 (seventeen years ago) link

"for once"????

=(

JABBA JABBA!! NIB NIB!! (vahid), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 19:43 (seventeen years ago) link

three years pass...

Anticipate the LP he's currently working on with James Murphy.

Personally, i can't wait for this...! Due around the same time as the next LCD Soundsystem.

new disc sounds good, some regrettable vocals aside.

I love this album. I think it's better than This Is Happening fwiw. The track with Nancy Whang is ace.

I was very underwhelmed by the new album but am enjoying this remix:

who is this

jaymc, Friday, 12 September 2014 06:54 (nine years ago) link

aren't you like the master of answering that question?

the late great, Friday, 12 September 2014 06:56 (nine years ago) link

haha.

never paid much attention to "shit robot" before, but "ft. lidell townsell" made me perk up.

jaymc, Friday, 12 September 2014 06:57 (nine years ago) link

imo even w lidell factored in it's pretty wack (to say nothing of the remixes) but the old stuff is great

the late great, Friday, 12 September 2014 07:02 (nine years ago) link

the lidell remix is maybe not that bad sound-wise but really really earnest-corny in spirit

the late great, Friday, 12 September 2014 07:04 (nine years ago) link

much like the picture on the youtube video

garish and fake

oh yeah hmmm.

jaymc, Friday, 12 September 2014 07:08 (nine years ago) link

would have posted the lidell remix if i could, it's much better than that, at least.

the late great, Friday, 12 September 2014 07:11 (nine years ago) link

the actual video is pretty great but i prefer the bareskin remix which sounds nothing like the original

six years pass...

found the debut Sh&t Robot/DFA album on cd today for bobbins in a charity shop.
this thread is interesting.
had no idea re the DFA vs ILM thing.
not so sure re the album.
at times it sounds like offcuts from hot chip vs DFA sessions.
but as always with DFA stuff, it will probably take a few more listens and in a couple of months i will be declaring this the best album ever released.
