Horace has made me think of "she says 'blah blah blah' got a pillow stuck in her head" but I can't think of who sung this line.

Why the heck didn't Ned include a track listing on his Quickspace compilation? I've got a song stuck in my head, but I've no idea what it's called!

Why was the second Kelis album so ignored when it's actually quite good?

Nick H, Wednesday, 4 June 2003 11:22 (twenty years ago) link

why do people spend so long recording their albums,
its like they have this immortality-in-the-making complex about it. if they're lucky 0.0000001% of the worlds population will hear it
and most of them will think 'bleh', your more likely to become a
legend if you just keep knocking em out, look at jandek (if he let
you that is) blah blah snnnnnnip!

joni, Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:44 (twenty years ago) link

Leftfield's reason for existence is fully justified by this one Renegade Soundwave remix they did.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:46 (twenty years ago) link

mei (mei), Thursday, 5 June 2003 16:46 (twenty years ago) link

I'm thinking that, before Kate goes dissing on my taste in music again, she should realize how many times she name-checks the friggin Spin Doctors. ;-)

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:59 (twenty years ago) link

Tell me more about Supercar.

from the Books of Magic FAQ
p.3 panel 3: _Supercar_ was a sci-fi television series made in
Great Britain in the 60's or so. Puppets were used rather than actors
or animation; the puppetry was done by the relatively famous pair of
Sylvia and Gerry Anderson, who went on to do the _Thunderbirds_ television show, also with puppets. Supercar was a car that could fly and travel underwater as well as do about 300 MPH on a straightaway.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 17:01 (twenty years ago) link

or!

Supercar is/was on Sony Japan, released a few tracks for the Japan Not For Sale comps put out. Two of their songs, "Lucky" and "White Surf Style 5" are great droney/J&MC rocking tunes, but like New Order, they've been getting more clubby stuff lately, which is FAR less compelling than the guitar-based tunes.

dig around on P2P, you can find some of their stuff.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 6 June 2003 19:24 (twenty years ago) link

Kate - re: Spin Doctors...oh I know, I was just being a "-tard" (whether of the "re-" or "bas-" variety is up to you folks).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 June 2003 19:33 (twenty years ago) link

ok, is this track on White Stripe's DeStijl skipping or is that how the track actually sounds?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 6 June 2003 19:35 (twenty years ago) link

Baa ba-ba, ba-baabaa ba-ba, calling planet earth...

wtf was that search i was about to do?

JuliaA (j_bdules), Saturday, 7 June 2003 00:09 (twenty years ago) link

Several things, really:

I really should make a mix tape. I wouldn't put anything too heavy on it, but I would put lots and lots of yummy songs that would make me actually forget we need to get here and here and there as quickly as we can so we can fit this and that into our schedule.

Hmmmm. Why is it that Jamie Oliver seems like such a cool bloke but his taste in music is dodgy? I mean, Toploader? The "Oliver's Twist" theme tune? What on Earth is this supposed to be all about? Great. Now I have the few tones that make up the theme from "The Galloping Gourmet" stuck in my head.

I feel like eating something sweet right now. There's an ice cold watermelon in the fridge. I'll get to it as soon as I can pull myself away from this board.

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 7 June 2003 00:19 (twenty years ago) link

Ack. tones = notes.

I wish we had an edit option here. But not so much that I'd rather this be like the multiple other forums out there that have the "edit" feature but also have complete dimwits or mental cases as their predominant posters.

There. All my thoughts as of now.

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 7 June 2003 00:20 (twenty years ago) link
