oh man, that's great. i might as well go to the show on friday. If I see one and I have enough money I'll pick it up for you (but don't count on me-- i might not go). I might get one for myself-- this band is awesome. I hope they'll be selling a CD version.

The best thing about the shirt -- when cute hipster girls approach you and say "oh, I love Joy Division," you get to go "Huh? Who?" -- it's the little things that make life precious, you know.

I want one, now.

We should start a collection.

i caught this band at CMJ this year and it was one of the best things i witnessed in 2004. im working on bringing them to philly.

TS: These guys vs. Boy Division, who do Boyzone songs in a JoyDiv stylee. Or maybe the other way round. No, I think it's right the first time.

Both groups sound like it's a great idea when you're pissed with you're mates at the pub, but pretty stupid to bring it to fruition.

They're opening for Animal Collective at the Bowery in late February. Woo-hoo!

Now that i think about it, so many JD songs are perfect for dubness-ising.

My 12-inch single just arrived today...$10 postpaid!

Did anyone ever get extra shirts at their recent shows?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 16:47 (nineteen years ago) link

Oddly enough, the only vinyl I found at the Unclaimed Luggage Center in Scottsboro, Alabama was about a dozen copies of the Jah Division 12".

I didn't buy one, but I wish there was an unclaimed T-shirt there.

haj division. muslimgauze-style remixes of jah division songs. who's in?

i still haven't seen one of these t-shirts or buttons and i live in new york and go to kim's all the time. my hipster echolocation is so off.

By the way, the single's great, but it almost sounds better slowed down to 33.

Must agree there with Sean. Quite grand.

I'm VERY impressed with the tracks I heard.. at either speed! It's not corny, as I expected it would sound.

Yeah, I know, looking back on the early posts up top, my fears were unfounded. Has to be said that the slow versions remind me of Low's majestic take on "Transmission" in a way, but with different goals and results. Their "Disorder" at 33 rpm is ASTONISHING.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 February 2005 04:24 (nineteen years ago) link

three weeks pass...
finally picked up a copy of this 12". damn fine dub takes on JD tracks. i was very, very skeptical of this and avoided picking it up for a while. a copy was still in the racks at Wall of Sound so i grabbed it quick like (also got a copy of A Certain Ratio's "The Old and the New" in one of those snazzy Factory Linen boxes).

Jah Div. -- Highly Recommended!

eight months pass...
So what happened to these guys? The 12" is apparently sold out (my loss), and The Social Registry hasn't said a damn thing about them since. Their "Transmission" is fucking great.
