Finally heard and reviewed "This Kiss." Quite good.

the first track on this album is so sickly sweet and cutesy it is making me seriously angry

maybe I shouldn't have listened to Purity Ring and Sleigh Bells on repeat all this morning before trying to play this

yeah I'm gonna try this later when I'm not all aggro, right now this is just the worst fucking thing and I can tell it's 90% because of my mood and not the music

actually i ended up having a deadline on the same day for my bob dylan piece and carly rae jepsen review, the evening before i took to alternating one song off each album just to make the impending deadlines more fun, and my god going back to dylan every time was physically painful

whoa, you guys are making me actually want to go buy this.

I'm liking some of the tracks a lot, and I hear some of Kylie in this, especially her sweeter, older stuff. Very no-fuss pop. Sequencing is a little funky to me - I think the first 7 or 8 tracks all have similar beats and structures and the album could use one or two more songs that deviate from that (though Guitar String/Wedding Ring is pretty bad).

can't say you're wrong, but the bright, sugary effervescence of the sound is what i like about kiss. "tiny little bows" makes me instantly, giddily happy every time i hear it. it's like the aural equivalent of the wachowski's speed racer movie, an insubstantial cloud of neon hearts and rainbows. my favorite parts of the album are those that seem the least substantial.

it just made me yearn to hear the Presets album

i like this and the new presets about the same. actually that's unfair, I need to give the presets a few more listens.

FML, i like the owl city one :-( , but a lot of this is better than ok, with some great highlights

lol either I am in a much poppier mood than I was this morning or the first two songs on this are really, really terrible; I started listening at "Call Me Maybe" this time and am enjoying this immensely (currently up to "More Than A Memory")

i love the run from "this kiss" to "hurt so good" ("good time" excepted, i've given it a chance but now i just skip it)

yeah see, i love "tiny little bows" but am starting to skip "this kiss". don't care for the steamwhistle synths, reminds me too much of "teenage dream".

That one w bieber sounds like a Colbie cheese Callait / Hey There Delilah mashup.

It's all pretty competent and whatever, obvious exceptions aside, it's just a lot more of this style of music than I want to hear at one time. Too much Natasha Beddingfield realness.

even still though, meme-mummify-maim is not binding, it's still an opportunity however complicated; crj has a lot going for her, more than most, and it has to go down as a bigtime industry fumble if they can't keep her ball rolling for at very least a few singles more

i want her to do a video for "i know you have a girlfriend" where she's in a harsh white spotlight, a trio behind her, small drumkit, her backup band looking like young joe jackson session guys, all of them with microphones for bg vocals which they perform early and often, and carly with her own strat that she jerks smartly around for the chorus, everything FIXED UP and lookin SHARP

Katherine otm. "Your Heart is a Muscle" and "This Kiss" are at least as good as "Call Me Maybe." The album overall is stronger and tougher than Red, actually.
