suncream, zits and wrinkles: rolling skincare thread?

When Sonicare toothbrushes first came out, I got a Crest Spinbrush and it kind of sucked (it tasted weird and would catch my mouth in the spinning apparatus somehow). My mom got me a Sonicare a couple of years ago and I love that fucking thing, so I kind of have a bias against spinning things v. vibrating things. But, the reviews are really good for both products, and if you factor in the human tendency to rate something they paid a lot of money for more highly so as not to feel like chumps for paying a lot of money for it, they are about even. Plus, and I think this is the ultimate deciding factor, if I go with the Olay thing, I can get it today, but if I want the Clarisonic (even getting the cheaper one-speed Mia), I have to wait until I get paid next week.

It also seems reasonable to try a cheaper version to see whether I even like using it before.

To finish that sentence, "before I spend a lot of money on the more expensive one."

In other news I just bought a new blush over the weekend but I think it's too dark or ruddy or something and now I have to go return it and that makes me sad because Ulta is far away and I'm lazy. It looked OK in the store dammit!!

I should have put that thing about the blush in the comestics thread. Oh well. It's Ulta I need to go to to return that so I feel you on that QUince. The other places should have it.

I'm pretty sure Walgreens or CVS carries it. I wanted to go to Ulta because I like to rack up them bonus points. I stopped in Ashley Stewart on the way and found a lovely black linen and rayon skirt and a pair of shorts* on megaclearance, and I wouldn't have gone there had I not been on the way to Ulta so obviously this product is already solving all of my problems.

*There is a vacation involving some light hiking in my future and I realized that unless I was going to go hiking in skirts and Spanx, I needed to break my no shorts ever rule.

I cannot wait to go home and wash my face.

hm, I really like my sonic care toothbrush and have been curious about sonic vibration face cleansing, so maybe I will jump on board too...

It would be awesome if we could actually blast our faces with ultra-high-frequencies and all the oil and dirt and mites would just up and fall out

Similarly, I have always wanted a sonic shower like they have on Star Trek.

I did. I'm still going to try it out, though. Not because I don't believe your derma colleagues but because I want to play with my new toy.

I think Ulta's return policy is 60 days w/ a receipt if you hate it, so I can have my spinning face brush and use it, too.

Not to dis yr colleagues, but my personal trust in dermatology when it comes to acne, rosacea and the like is not very strong...

I've knew a derm who did rep for them if only because they made people clean their faces really well. Who knows.

Yeah my secret is never forgetting to put C1indoxil and faux retin-a on my face tbh. I thank the pharma industry for this, I do.

And when I don't eat sugar or carb-heavy anything, my skin gets more 'refined' looking or whatevs. But chocolate...

x-post - I mean that it made people do it more often and for a good length of time or whatever. It's $30 and I haven't gotten a pimple since I started using it every night so I figure it can't be hurting any.

Yeah sort of how the toothbrush works too - you just end up cleaning more thoroughly - it's not magic but it helps

haha okay. also - thinking of starting to use cetaphil face moisturizer with the SPF 50, since I seem to be getting a few new facial moles every year. but have never used sunscreen before. worried!

Cetaphil is generally a really good brand. I think I even have that exact one (it's either Cetaphil or Cerave) and I like it a lot.

idk! all my life I've had relatively good skin on my face (like the only part of my body, for real) and that's without washing, using facial cleansers, etc. so I have a general vague ~worry~ anytime I try out something new on my face

People usually grow new moles (nevi) until about the age of thirty or so. Remember your ABCDs

I got two moles checked out a few months ago! I have a big 'fried egg' mole in my scalp

I canceled my followup because the derm said that she was just going to see if they had grown any bigger within 2 months and I was like, I can just do that at home!

I'm having an extra-scrupulous day. I should have cleaned house but I was too lazy to start, so instead I tweezed and plucked and extracted and face-masked and manicured and I guess I had to deal with that stuff sooner or later, judging from the amount of gross that was in my skin, but it felt kind of compulsive. Urrrrgh.

BTW I might be an estee lauder convert. I am loving my time zone night cream and night renewal serum. It seems like something fauncy my mother might use, too. Even though it's not very fauncy at all.
