Aw.

I once found a '70s Hustler calendar in my dad's copy of Master Of Reality, but that's a different thread I suppose.

When I was 15, I had two summer jobs, one as a dishwasher in my aunt and uncle's restaurant and one at a used bookstore down the street from it. There was this waiter at the restaurant everyone hated-- he had this really snooty air and was a dick to everyone in the kitchen. About halfway through the summer I was going through a bunch of books someone had sold to the bookstore and a bunch of photos fell out of one of them. Pictured was the same waiter, in what looked like a hotel room, in aqua-coloured bikini briefs, looking directly into the camera with the same supercilious pursed-lipped expression he always had when he looked into the kitchen to see if his table's food was out.

I almost bought a tatty old copy of Alice in Wonderland because the inside cover had "Happy Christmas, Darling, love Mummy and Daddy XXXXXXX" written in it, but I decided that stupidly excessive sentimentalism wasn't a good enough reason. I now regret it. :'(

I got a big box (45 pounds) of 60s Playboys from an Ebay store yesterday. In the auction post, the store mentioned that they hadn't looked through every magazine for defects and whatnot. So because of that I got the unlisted bonus of finding in one of the issues a personalized autographed b&w glossy headshot of Stella Stevens plus a folded pin up of her from a mid-60s issue of Variety (that had an ad for The Naked Prey on the other side).

I have heard it said that people like to stash money in bibles. Seems like a good thing to check out the used bibles in the thrift stores. I haven't ever found any, tho.

found a NYC ticket stub in a book I got here in Denver

I found a few family photos taped to the blank pages of the hardcover booklet that came with the Dock Boggs CD I bought. there's a (1950s?) polaroid of a young couple standing in front of a fireplace, a polaroid (also '50s?) of two boys and two middle aged ladies on a porch, and a color photo (1980s or '90s?) of a family (mom + dad and four kids) sitting on one side of a kitchen table. there's also a sentimental note from "Ron, Jr." to his brother Bill. all that stuff must've really hurt the resale value of the CD, because I got it for ≈$8 at a time when copies were going for ten times that much on Amazon.

I would've been more impressed if the ppl in the photos were spooky Depression-era southerners. they look pretty normal as far as I can tell.

in a library book I found one of those fake dollar bills with an angel in the place of the dead president and cutesy details like "Jesus Christ paid for all debts, public and private". I was disappointed that it wasn't actual money.
