I was on a search committee last year at my previous university, in a less than desirable locale (though still an R1, if only barely), & we got 400+ apps.

my new department, in a much better uni / locale, is advertising this year for a pretty specialized junior position, & I expect at least 400 apps for that.

hey so i started this thread:

but i forgot to specify that the images that people post should be photos that they have taken themselves. so there are at least two posts of photos that are pretty clearly NOT taken by the posters:

if possible, could a mod go through and delete those posts / remove text from posts that already have photos attached? it takes away from the flow of the thread. already have a request pending here: mod - can you imagify this post but nobody seems to be paying attention to it.

alternatively, perhaps ILP could use a mod? it's a small board but it seems that there's people regularly have trouble posting images because they use html tags instead, or get the bbcode wrong, etc. i uh, reluctantly nominate myself, but there are others who are longtime contributors who would be great at it too: michael jones, chinavision!, schlump, just to name a few
