This is like my third or fourth favourite LP of the year. Love it.

Count me in as a new convert, especially if Jim and Doran are repping for her. It's right up my alley with my recent love of all things krauty. The initial Stereolab vibe gives way to something deeper, will dig into more from her.

probably the closest thing to this in her back cat is the misty dixon lp which i highly recommend and is dead easy to find cheap (or at least was)

That's a fair assessment but I love the musical path she's ploughing. So what if it's similar to classic Stereolab, they're gone and I could go for more of that flavor.

after listening to the first two tracks I'm fully on board, some real motorik yumminess there. And I don't even care that much for Stereolab.

Bought this at the weekend. It's really good! I feel like mainstream press are not talking about this in ways that are helpful to people who might want to listen to it, though.

Even wikipedia lists her genres as 'acoustic, folk, alternative'. Which I guess may have been true in the past but seems pretty damn reductive next to this record.

It's great to hear really tight, melodic songs with this aesthetic.

She's so good.

this is really great. Fills the crater-sized hole left by Broadcast and Stereolab's absence but much more straight ahead and accessible.

one of my favs this year easily. like a rockier/kraut Linda Perhacs at times, but my favourite moments are easily the sublime pop of "Slow Motion" and "I Wish".

holy shit this is a great record.

I got into it right around Christmas time. Really perfect for those chilly winter vibes. I had never even heard of her before. One of my favorite things I listened to last year.

this and the Hannah Peel album are real contenders for my never-to-be-compiled best of 2017 list

It's really great, a wonderful stew of various krautrock threads and her own spin on it all. Plus her gorgeous vocals on half of it. It's on her Bandcamp site.

Yep, got the vinyl through the post the other day. It's one of those 'reimagined score to an old film' things. Probably my favourite thing of hers since 1992(!) Fenella are doing a very limited number of gigs too performing parts of the record; saw them in Edinburgh a few weeks back.

I agree it's wonderful. Listening right now and I am pleased there are quite a bit of Jane's vocals. I was expecting a mostly instrumental album. The atmosphere is wonderful.

Did Julian House do the sleeve? It's got that look.

Produced on a complicated diet of bygone Lebanese torch songs, 1980's Russian Aerobics records and Australian Punk.

On the one hand that sounds great, on the other, I'm going to wait on another song at least.

My initial reaction is that the "funky" verses reminded me of late 90s Phish. I'm not totally convinced but I'm still re-listening to it and hope for another song soon to help clarify the direction.

New single - Heartlow. More of a Lush vibe. Not psychedelic in the vein of Silver Globe or Modern Kosmology, but a little more in tune with her previous work than Revolution of Super Visions was. That song has grown on me a bit since October too.

Every review I've read has really annoyed me. I should just not read those.

I had the same response. Was sort of put off by it for no good reason at first. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it. But I listened to it a couple of times today and it's growing on me.

Still not sure if it will really stick, but I can't figure out what it was I didn't like the first time.
