if I had to write out those characters, by hand, I probably wouldn't bother.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 17 July 2004 11:58 (nineteen years ago) link

Okay, I get it, but it's still a bad joke.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 17 July 2004 12:00 (nineteen years ago) link

you don't get it.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 17 July 2004 12:13 (nineteen years ago) link

I have only had one woo, and it doesn´nt even count because it was RJG and he was just being polite because I wooed him first.

RJG, there are a few words in your typing, just by chance. You´re almost like the monkeys who get given typewriters for a long time and they end up writing Shakespeare. Where is that from?

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 17 July 2004 13:14 (nineteen years ago) link

I found "jug", "buy, "bel", "biv", and, not so surprisingly, "devoe."

A couple of days ago I got

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 11:37 (nineteen years ago) link

WTF, only the first few words of my post appeared there!? I was supposed to post this:

A couple of days ago I got

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 11:38 (nineteen years ago) link

A couple of days ago I got a friend of mine to put her profile on OKCupid. None of my real life friends had had their profiles there before, so it's kinda interesting to check whether the "compare" tool actually works, now that I can use it to someone I actually know. OKCupid seems to at least verify that our friendship is on solid ground: she's a 90% match with me, making her my number one straight match in Finland.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 11:39 (nineteen years ago) link

Okay, I got it know, I messed up with the HTML. Sorry.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 11:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh dear, maybe I shouldn't have put that link to her profile there. Please don't message her or anything.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 11:41 (nineteen years ago) link

haha your 6 posts cheered me right up.

I'm thinking of re-registering with this but i dunno.

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 4 September 2004 12:06 (nineteen years ago) link

Haha, I guess the lowest form of comedy is an idiot repeating the same mistake again and again. I'm glad it did something good.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 12:14 (nineteen years ago) link

last night I dreamt that I got wooed. Wtf, I haven't even used this thing in ages!

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Saturday, 4 September 2004 12:17 (nineteen years ago) link

REMIX!

Paul Eater (eater), Saturday, 4 September 2004 15:39 (nineteen years ago) link

???

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 15:48 (nineteen years ago) link

I was just enjoying your funky "A couple of days ago I got" loop, Tuomas. Also your friend is cute.

Paul Eater (eater), Saturday, 4 September 2004 15:55 (nineteen years ago) link

I guess she is, especially when riding a wolf.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 15:58 (nineteen years ago) link

But please don't message her, I feel guilty for posting her profile here.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 4 September 2004 16:00 (nineteen years ago) link

I think I need to find some photos of me that aren't me wearing weird outfits while v.drunk in bright light (or, uh, me in a gas mask running down a hallway in a derelict building). & have chosen a username other than "pumice-tron". & haha, ricardo's my 2nd-highest match in the world!

etc, Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:38 (nineteen years ago) link

ok so forserious question -- when coldcalling/writing some cool person on one of these things, what works better -- short friendly note on some element of their profile (film, book, etc.) -- or longer streamaconsciousness friendly thang like you might write to someone you already know?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 5 September 2004 03:52 (nineteen years ago) link

former gives em less to respond with, but latter can be overwhelming?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 5 September 2004 03:53 (nineteen years ago) link

I usually write a paragraph, saying what it is in their profile that has grabbed my interest (I suspect "It's your tits" wouldn't be good here) and makes me think we might perhaps be suited, and suggesting that they look at mine and if they'd like to talk, here's my email.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 5 September 2004 08:35 (nineteen years ago) link

My #4 world match is an ILXOR. BUT WHICH ONE??

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 5 September 2004 11:49 (nineteen years ago) link

Are we supposed to answer that?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 5 September 2004 12:41 (nineteen years ago) link

No!

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 5 September 2004 12:43 (nineteen years ago) link

Well who is it? We're dying to know!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 5 September 2004 12:46 (nineteen years ago) link

Casuistry!

80% for you, Tuomas. Rrr.
Also I seem to be 85% for Melissa W. Obviously OKCupid doesn't realise we would kill each other within 5 minutes if we ever met due to massive disagreements about which Bjork and Radiohead albums are good.

I REALLY ONLY SIGNED UP BECAUSE DOM ASKED ME WHAT TYPE I WAS. Ugh. Now I'm asking people who've wooed me how I should get my hair cut.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 5 September 2004 12:48 (nineteen years ago) link

Tuomas, Ricardo and I seem to be nearly everyone's type, according to this thing. If only people in real life thought so. Uh, I mean about me, I'm sure the lovely Ricardo and Tuomas are pursued by gorgeous people endlessly.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 5 September 2004 14:36 (nineteen years ago) link

I do seem to get a lot of nice comments through OKCupid, I wish it was like this in real life as well...

There seems to be a new feature there, you can add comments to a friend's profile (she'll have to accept them first, obviously). I tried it with my friend, it seems to be working, though there's some delay before you get to accept the comment.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 6 September 2004 11:15 (nineteen years ago) link

I didn't mean to say I don't get nice comments in real life, I do, just not in the romantic sense.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 6 September 2004 11:16 (nineteen years ago) link

For the first time in about three months on this thing I got a woo! I suddenly feel wanted.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 6 September 2004 14:05 (nineteen years ago) link

I got the worst message ever. Someone called me "one sexy rodent". I wanted to delete my account, and then humanity.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 6 September 2004 14:07 (nineteen years ago) link

Rodents are cute...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 6 September 2004 14:08 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh and then he asked if I wanted to "be [his] hamster man and ride [his] exercise wheel". Hence the urge to delete humanity.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 6 September 2004 14:10 (nineteen years ago) link

Was it Richard Gere?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 6 September 2004 14:14 (nineteen years ago) link

Not unless he's lying about his age.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 6 September 2004 14:15 (nineteen years ago) link

I hardly ever get messages or even woos. What am I doing wrong?

Melissa W (Melissa W), Monday, 6 September 2004 18:14 (nineteen years ago) link

two weeks pass...
Is OKC down for anyone else?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:58 (nineteen years ago) link

Okcupid is turning into the Craigslist erotic services bulletin board:

(not work safe)

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 27 September 2004 02:00 (nineteen years ago) link

I deleted my account today. There are people I couldn't bear if they found me on there.

Ok, someone add me as a real friend so I look well adjusted

Free the Bee (ex machina), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:22 (nineteen years ago) link

fuck, my sort of ex is my #1 match

Free the Bee (ex machina), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:27 (nineteen years ago) link

Obviously it's time to revise that "sort of"...

JimD (JimD), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:32 (nineteen years ago) link

I logged in today for the first time in FOREVER. All my answers to the questions looked retarded, as they were based on the old questions which have since been replaced. Hopefully I look like less of a dipshit now.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 27 September 2004 17:15 (nineteen years ago) link

The STRANGER ARRANGER!

Who has matches on their New Thing? I don't, bah.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 10 October 2004 13:03 (nineteen years ago) link

five months pass...
I've probably complained enough about how there are only ten people in Dublin, but my new okcupid crush putting up a photo of herself holding a ticket to Ronan's club is just taking the piss.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 18 March 2005 18:30 (nineteen years ago) link

haha ouch

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 18 March 2005 18:50 (nineteen years ago) link

it's a flyer, not a ticket. she could have got it ANYWHERE.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 18 March 2005 19:06 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah yeah, keep talking.

Haha it's not like I have a rival club across the street or anything. Memo to self..
