Only recently did i realise that all the music from Flashback radio no GTA3 is from the movie Scarface. "Yo yo yippee ya oh"

WIPEOUT! On a prefect lap you feel you're cornering in time with the music. Pure adrenaline.

I really honestly feel that if you switched the OSTs of KD and WLK people would just say the exact same thing about the music being not as good and sounding unremarkable.

I disagree. I have both albums in my itunes and I listen to the KD soundtrack a lot but I always wind up turning off the new one or skipping to what I consider to be the "good" songs — which are few and far between, imo.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Monday, 26 September 2005 16:29 (eighteen years ago) link

There are about 4 maybe 5 good songs on the first OST and about 4 maybe 5 good songs on the second OST. If it's up to me it comes down to whether I'm in the mood for one Kenji Niinuma song (Prince & Moon) or the other (DISCO PRINCE). "Kuru Kuru Rock" is pretty great, too.

Why do people think the music in the Final Fantasy games is so good?!?

I've only heard the music from FF X, but I liked it because it seemed very incidental and unassuming. It didn't get in the way and held up well after constant replay.

Did the FF guy do the music for Xenogears, too? I always like the "underground/dungeon/explorey" themes that japanese adventure/RPGs have...

I know I'm typecasting myself here but, the SimCity 4 game music is really nice. They actually brought in a full orchestra to record some pieces. And some others are done by dudes called the Humble Brothers; their peices are great! "Metropolis" is really cool. I listen to the SC4 tunes when I'm working sometimes. Good background music.

Did the FF guy do the music for Xenogears, too?

It was Yasunori Mitsuda, who also did Chrono Trigger (with the Final Fantasy guy) and uh, Tsuganai: Atonement.

I fucked up the sound quality on the nintendo mix somehow when I finished it. It was edited together using Cool Edit 96 (registered to PhRoZeN cReW 97!!!!) and I somehow saved it wrang. It's gotta be cleaned up!

There's a wee loop of background music in mariokart ds that plays while you're waiting for people to come and join your online game. I've had it quietly running in the background for the last 20 minutes or so, and it's not got tired at all, it's exactly the sort of sweet backgroundy midi music that nintedo have always been great at.

The only good thing about Xenosaga, and it is pretty awesome, is the ambient synth techno jingle that plays when you access the Unus Mundus Network on the main character's little PDA thingamabob. A bizarre Miyazakilike white rabbit thing floats and bobs up and down on the side of the screen while this music just loops, and it actually feels cool and futuristic and imaginative for a while, then you get back to the actual game part of the game and wham, abundance of boring, unappealing crap.

OffTM. The true litmus test comes from my girlfriend, who has never played either game, but loves the soundtrack of the first game, begged me to download the soundtrack to WLK, and then was really disappointed in it when she finally heard it. We still listen to the first soundtrack pretty often.

What about the world map music for Dragon Warrior I (NES)? It wasn't the greatest, but it looped so often that it's pretty much etched into my memory forever.

This is cool, though most won't even be familiar with the original music (game only shipped 10,000 copies in the States). Not sure how many units they shipped to other countries, if at all (other than Japan).

http://store.bravewave.net/album/resurrection-panzer-dragoon-saga-20th-anniversary-arrangement-2

Brave Wave is proud to announce the release of a new arrangement soundtrack for the legendary SEGA Saturn RPG, Panzer Dragoon Saga. Saori Kobayashi, the game's original co-composer, has selected 20 tracks from the original game and given them fresh, new arrangements that will allow longtime series fans to reminisce about the game's iconic music while simultaneously experiencing it in a brand new way.

Joining Kobayashi is Eri Ito, one of the original vocalists for the game. She lends her powerful and dramatic vocals to two songs. Five tracks are backed by the Washington D.C.-based video game music band, Triforce Quartet, with three songs featuring the backing of Boston-based flutist Maho Azuma.

"fly yar warriors" is also something but i can't place it right this second. who the fuck made this?
