Rick Santorum wants to thank God.

MEEEEEE TOOOOOO!

It's the lazy and immoral way to become super hip. (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:01 (seventeen years ago) link

WOULD ALLEN MAKE A GOOD PRESIDENT?
TOTAL Allen Webb
Yes (35%) 95% 4%
No (57%) 18% 80%

Haha I srsly thought that said WOODY ALLEN MAKE A GOOD PRESIDENT? and actually thought "why would they ask that?"

But really folx, who are those 4% who didn't vote for the 'good president'??

richardk (Richard K), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Allen up by 17,000, 207 precincts left. Not looking good.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:05 (seventeen years ago) link

You won't have Rick Santorum to kick around anymore...

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:05 (seventeen years ago) link

looks like we've got PA-4

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Santorum's kids crying. Daddy's a hate mongerer.

vingt regards (vignt_regards), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:08 (seventeen years ago) link

I still think he should do a buddy movie with K-Fed.

Pretty happy for Deval Patrick over here in Massachusetts (first African American governor in state's history)

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:11 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes, the PA House seats look very good - 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 & 16 could all be Dem gains.

One Odd Thing [Ramesh Ponnuru]
Why do people keep talking about the Democrats' "regaining" or "retaking" the House? It's been 12 years, hasn't it? It's not as though it's naturally theirs.

from "The Corner" of course. ahh, bitterness. sweet, sweet schadenfreude.

like murderinging (modestmickey), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:17 (seventeen years ago) link

district 3 and 11 are going to put webb over i think

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:20 (seventeen years ago) link

Fl-16, looks like Foley's going to be re-elected.

vingt regards (vignt_regards), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:21 (seventeen years ago) link

I hope you're right, Tracer. My (elder!) daughter was crying so I've brought her downstairs at 3:20am to cheer on the Democrats. I am a bad Dad.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Dunno about Webb doodz...can we get the Senate without?

richardk (Richard K), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:26 (seventeen years ago) link

No. MT and MO may go Dem but TN won't and that's all that's in play.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:28 (seventeen years ago) link

How could anyone vote for macaca Allen?

Beth S. (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:29 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't know, and can't say I've even heard of any voting shenanigans in Virginia as opposed to everywhere else. Not that that means anything...

richardk (Richard K), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:31 (seventeen years ago) link

93.7% reporting in VA, Allen still has that pesky 17,000-vote lead. 24,000 voted for the Green candidate.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:33 (seventeen years ago) link

sigh. VA is so close. and the map isn't looking good. TN isn't either. even if we don't make majority, shit, we got damn close, and it's not like an all-or-take presidential election. we have that much more pull in the senate.

like murderinging (modestmickey), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:34 (seventeen years ago) link

There's an awful lot of votes from Prince William county to come in, though, if I'm reading the website right…

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Uh, Prince William County is where I'm registered. Not exactly an "urban democrat" demographic, to put it lightly.

someone on NPR just said that exact thing. are you on the radio?

like murderinging (modestmickey), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:38 (seventeen years ago) link

the two districts still under 80% tilt to webb but yeah i was hoping he'd crack 10,000 by now :( - looking at relative turnouts in webb-tilting vs. allen-tilting districts is really irritating

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Prince William looks fairly close though - 51-48. Webb may pick up another thousand or so there but it's not enough.

One more update and I'm off to bed. Ava doesn't seem like she's ready to go though.

(xp - I guess me and NPR have the same five or six websites open!)

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:39 (seventeen years ago) link

just got done phone banking for the last 2 hours. Am tired, but they gave me pizza & beer. am now heading to bar with friend. wheeeeee.

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:40 (seventeen years ago) link

Down to 12,000 with 94.2% reporting. Can't we just include DC for the purposes of this election?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:41 (seventeen years ago) link

still 10% of district 3 to come in, and webb is trouncing allen there by more than 2-1; you know you don't want to go, mike!

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Ava is cheering Hillary on the telly and squealing in a way not appropriate for a quiet London suburb at 3:40am...

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:42 (seventeen years ago) link

ALL THE STOPS

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:45 (seventeen years ago) link

come on district 3 you magnificent bitch

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Who knows guys.. maybe Sen Ensign (R) in Nevada will be caught shitting on the cross of Jesus in a preemptive drunk celebration on TV in the next few minutes... reversing his lead.

(ok, it's a long shot)

Somehow got Ava to bed. 8,000 gap with 95.3% precincts in. OMG!

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:50 (seventeen years ago) link

haha well done mike.

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:53 (seventeen years ago) link

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:53 (seventeen years ago) link

I already opened my Cassic Lambic and am already drinking.

House is so far looking pretty solid for the Dems, and it would be a super crazy great bonus for the Dems if the Senate came along, which none of us were even expecting anyway not too long ago.

I'm not a huge fan of the Dems, but it looks like, in Andrew Sullivan's words, the "intervention" that are helping to vote in right now is likely to succeed, so at least to that, cheers.

(Prepare for some drunk posts later tonight if things get even better... )

gwynywdd dwnyt fyrwr byychydd gww (donut), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:54 (seventeen years ago) link

NBC is calling the House for the Dems 231-204.

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Harry Reid is talking down the Senate chances on Fox. Missori doesn't seem to be heading Democrat way...

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:57 (seventeen years ago) link

What's the maximum margin for an automatic recount? Allen's lead is now 13,000 but only three-fifths of a %-age point.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Hah, apparently the major cities in Missouri haven't reported yet, so I'm jumping the gun somewhat.

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:59 (seventeen years ago) link

most of the remaining votes are from Richmond, Newport News and Norfolk, so Webb has a shot at barely making up the difference, but either way this is going to a recount
