two weeks pass...

There's a 3-mile Navy pier off the coast of Sandy Hook, NJ that was purpose-built for loading AMMUNITION ONTO NAVAL VESSELS. It has to be 3 miles long in case ammo detonates while loading!!! Rail cars carry the ammo across the country from the factories and all the way down the pier to the docks.

Am having crazy "inaccessible places" longings about it right now but apparently they do not fuck around with it being off-limits so I'm thinking that's a "No."

http://njscuba.net/zzz_sites/navy_pier_aerial.jpg

The way I found out about it was that my plane flew over it on Saturday and I had no idea where it was, it's just this ENORMOUS PIER with a weird trident-shaped end, just hanging out in a bay. I looked it up on gmaps and Jesus Christ, of course it's military.

i am making tentative inroads back into drinking weird-non-soya-not-milk-milk-drinks recently, kinda for nutritional reasons, & am really into rice dream. it's rad when you get get vanilla options - i stay away from the sweetened kinds & vanilla-unsweetened still tastes good, & all of this kinda thing has a weird pulpy thickness, weird in a good way. this exists, if you wanna go all out, stevie:

In the past two weeks I was deeply into 9 and 10 mile hikes up into wild mountain areas, climbing up to alpine meadows at timberline or above and visiting glacially-formed lakes, seeing how far away from civilization I could get.

Now that I'm back to where there are refrigerators, I am into fresh food, especially salads, along with clean clothes and showers.

is "move on to 1981" the title to something? reason i ask is this year has huge personal significance for me & is a subject for research

(REAL NAME) (m coleman), Thursday, 16 August 2012 13:33 (eleven years ago) link

not the title of anything, just a note to self to wrap up 1988 on my yearbook tumblrlr (sorry to advertise, that is not my thing but you asked, so) and continue back in time to 1981, which i have been looking forward to scanning because it the next stretch of years is so full of great pictures.

i'm not sure that aloe vera itself actually tastes of anything, cause even the plain one is heavily flavoured with grape. it's got the chunks though. chunks to make you go hmmmmm.

bulge renaissance (+ +), Thursday, 16 August 2012 13:48 (eleven years ago) link

so, health? i tried it before for reflex and similar probs. dunno if i used it for long enough to have any idea if it worked.

are you aware of any links with Skullflower? Just been intrigued by them both having a song called Black Rabbit which I think is based on a similar riff.
Could just be coincidence of course. The Airplane's White Rabbit is one of the best known psych tracks ever after all.

Stevolende, Thursday, 16 August 2012 13:52 (eleven years ago) link

Think I've tried an otherwise unflavoured ALoe Vera drink from a chinese shop in Dublin. That was a while back, but I think that was reasonably straight.

Most of the Aloe Vera stuff I've had for oral use has had some flavouring though. The toothpaste is normally mint.

Stevolende, Thursday, 16 August 2012 13:56 (eleven years ago) link

Not aware of any link, no
but come to think of it, but i think they are all from glasgow?

skullflower (ie matthew bower) are from england

Ward Fowler, Thursday, 16 August 2012 14:02 (eleven years ago) link

oh sorry! i get them all confused, esp youngsbower (which i know contains richard youngs because of youngs) but matthew bower and skullflower -- that gets all mixed up in my brain! next thing you know there's gonna be a bowersflower power hour or something.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 16 August 2012 14:05 (eleven years ago) link

meant to say reflux above, not reflex, on the aloe vera thing.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 16 August 2012 14:07 (eleven years ago) link

la lech, just to confuse things further, richard youngs is an englishman who lives in glasgow (like me!)
