I am ashamed to admit that I have been, but I've fallen off this week since I am kind of disgusted at myself for it.

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Thursday, 13 September 2012 01:16 (eleven years ago) link

I got about 2 weeks of solid entertainment out of it, but at level 56 somewhere in the middle of Hell, I can't see myself ever wanting to play again.

Millsner, Thursday, 13 September 2012 15:38 (eleven years ago) link

I'm to the point where I have a level 60 character, climbed up to that new Paragon level thing to about level 10, still not quite at the gear level to go further than Act 3 in Inferno. I gave up on doing one of the really spammy wizard builds and have one that's at least kind of fun to play. But after playing probably an average of an hour a day for over a week (and a couple more on the weekends) I'm kind of over it for now.

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Thursday, 13 September 2012 15:59 (eleven years ago) link

What's the most fun class?

Mordy, Thursday, 13 September 2012 17:43 (eleven years ago) link

I liked my monk a lot

DARING PRINCESS (DJP), Thursday, 13 September 2012 17:57 (eleven years ago) link

witch doctor seems less-played but goofy as heck

Still playing the same demon hunter I started out with, but haven't really been interested in starting over with another class.

still playing this game because I want to get fame as fortune as the only wizard using DEATH BLOSSOM

brother got me this for christmas - a sly move, as he already had it and wanted someone to co-op with, but I was all 'no no srsly dude gotta read books n shit' (i'd already absolutely drawn the line at WoW, having had an entire month disappear when I first played it)

stayed up till three last night doing co-op with my demon hunter and levelling up my f'ing witch doctor ffs. (witch doctor is definitely fun btw).

generally only play these co-op games tho, so only review i can rly give is the meaningless 'not as good as portal 2'. the levelling grind is p tedious, but the variety of combat (large groups, dungeon raiding, plus the Act III battle type stuff) is appealing. Linear plotline feels so restrictive after the last game I played really intensively, Fallout 3 (which I loved).

MOTHERFUCKER! I JUST WANT TO GET WASTED AND PLAY DEMON HUNTER LAMONT CRANSTON/DIRTY HARRY AROUND INFERNO ACT II VERY DISTANT WASTELAND BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO THROW SNUFFY THE SNUFFLEUAGUS (INFESTOR OF BEDS) A DEMON-FUELED CLOUD OF BUGS THAT'S IMPERVIOUS TO EVERYTHING + VORTEX + MOLTEN + YADDA YADDA!

Harder to kill than any of the main bosses.

And with patch 1.0.8, I just defeated Diablo in Inferno level. Yay me.

Anybody still play this? I only got the game in August (I'm not a huge gamer) and I loved Diablo 2 and tbh not really getting why this game is so bad and hated, I'm still enjoying it. Got monk on Inferno Act II and I've played all the other classes through Normal. Demon hunter prob 2nd favourite, halfway through Nightmare with that one.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Friday, 20 December 2013 11:04 (ten years ago) link

I'm still playing a bit. My two main characters have already made it through Inferno a couple times, so I've been leveling up a witch doctor.

Very much looking forward to the Reaper Of Souls expansion.

Anyone playing since the v2.0 update? The new drop system is great - finding much better items now.

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 26 March 2014 04:55 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, I can imagine some people being quite annoyed about it (I'm not fwiw, I never used the auction houses so I'm liking the fact I can get decent legendary items now) - I had some level 60 items in my stash that are easily beaten in stats by level 40 items now.

The bonus experience over the last few weeks was pretty useful, my wife bought the game and just started playing 2 weeks ago and she's got 2 characters up to level 60 already.

The auction house items I had just felt tainted compared with what I'm finding now. Started a crusader character.

Oh, and I um started an ILX clan, called simply 'ILX.' May death some swiftly to our foes.

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 26 March 2014 12:45 (ten years ago) link

I'd love to join the ILX clan but I guess I can't because I'm on the European server :(

Boo... Who else is still playing?

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 27 March 2014 23:14 (ten years ago) link

oh. is this bloody thing that I wasted a load of cash on worth playing now?

thomasintrouble, Thursday, 27 March 2014 23:47 (ten years ago) link

been playing over the last week as time allows... so much more fun now. feels much more like D2 (except the dialog is still terrible, but not even terrible enough to be funny)

erry red flag (f. hazel), Monday, 7 April 2014 04:49 (ten years ago) link

Got Reaper of Souls last week - finished it on Normal last night and got my monk up to level 70. Act V is pretty fun, it's got some really big maps. Was doing it on Hard for most of the act but couldn't get anywhere with Malthael on that difficulty so dropped back to Normal to kill him.

Adventure mode is a nice addition. Basically you just teleport to a place with loads of monsters and kill them, good way to farm for gems etc.

Started a crusader but only up to Skeleton King on Act I so far.

I just wanted a quiet night of killing cultists and cleansing the earth of the unrighteous without having to deal with some easter egg level brony bullshit

Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 07:08 (nine years ago) link

i have gotten that stupid easter egg like 4 times

and the last 2 damn times were not portals dropped by a the little Golden Axe gold guy actual levels on a greater rift so i had no choice but to play through the whole stupid thing. it was mildly amusing for about five seconds, ONCE.

in other news i am new to this game and can anyone tell me

1. what class if any is good for soloing besides Barbarian
2. is it super cheap and gamebreaking to pass your maxed out gems from your Inferno character to your lvl 1 character or is it supposed to be like that

thank you!

antexit, Wednesday, 19 November 2014 01:21 (nine years ago) link

1. I've got characters in all the classes, and the most fun to play is the dual-crossbow wielding witch doctor.

2. No one is saying that you can't do it. If anything, the sooner you complete a full quest and can get to adventure mode, the better.

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 21 November 2014 08:05 (nine years ago) link

Did you mean the dual-crossbow-wielding demon hunter? Far as I can tell the witch doctor can only dual-wield different kinds of frogs and such and any weapon is purely ornamental.

antexit, Sunday, 7 December 2014 19:31 (nine years ago) link

doh! Yes I meant demon hunter.

This is still really good! It is interesting that Blizzard seem to have determined that any long-term problems with a game are basically a matter of economics.

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 8 September 2015 13:09 (eight years ago) link

I've almost beaten the game, but am tied up in late Act V slog and switched to the Witcher for a while

Purves Grundy (kingfish), Tuesday, 8 September 2015 14:37 (eight years ago) link

xp lol @ "almost beaten the game"

story mode is the training level dude

antexit, Tuesday, 8 September 2015 19:45 (eight years ago) link

Nah, it's perfectly fine to play it for the story then you're done - you get to see the vast majority of what Blizzard put into it, and insisting that you get down with hours upon hours of grinding isn't for everyone.

Andrew Farrell, Wednesday, 9 September 2015 09:46 (eight years ago) link

so i've been playing this seasonal on normal difficulty. i just finished the second act and it's really too easy. i haven't died once and the only challenge has been seeing how many kills i can chain. but i can't change difficulty mid game. should i just finish the game as normal or does it make sense to start over from scratch at the harder difficulty?

Mordy, Thursday, 4 May 2017 03:07 (six years ago) link

you should be able to change difficulty midgame. or if not, go out to the main menu and up it from there?

thomasintrouble, Thursday, 4 May 2017 09:35 (six years ago) link

nah you have to finish the game / start a new one to change the difficulty. i powered through it and now i'm playing adventure mode which is a++++. regular campaign on normal was way too easy - didn't die once. it was only in the final levels that i was even taking significant damage. so i ramped it up to hardcore now and i'm thinking i should probably make it harder once i finish my adventure playthrough.

Mordy, Friday, 5 May 2017 22:21 (six years ago) link

i've been playing witch doctor and it's a lot of fun - tho maybe the pets are partially responsible for the game being a cakewalk.

Mordy, Friday, 5 May 2017 22:22 (six years ago) link

Had fun playing this with friends for the social arcade aspect, but pretty sure you could just sit on the controller to beat this thing. Don't see the deep appeal. Skinner box. Cool lights and the occasional thrills of drops and such but it's so mindless and unsatisfying. Kind of a good example of what makes video games boring for me these days.

circa1916, Saturday, 6 May 2017 02:04 (six years ago) link

Modern day Blizzard in general just isn't my style at all, but I get the appeal even if I resent it.

circa1916, Saturday, 6 May 2017 02:20 (six years ago) link

I'm still in - maybe one multi-hour night per month, but really dgaf about the regular campaign. Usually there's some folks rifting in torment 3 or 4 and that's where attention vs. boredom ratios work in my favor. Interested in playing the necromancer whenever 2.6 rolls.

Elvis Telecom, Saturday, 6 May 2017 03:52 (six years ago) link

Totally Gauntlet style arcade fun. Similarly requires friends to make it a good time.

circa1916, Saturday, 6 May 2017 04:20 (six years ago) link

on torment iv trying to complete the seasonal set and the difficulty is legit now

just got this after not playing any of these games since diablo 1 back in the 90s lol ... i loved that game, it was genuinely scary & i felt invested in the story. cant tell if i was just an idiot teenager of d3 is genuinely worse

had the same issue as mordy upthread where it was insanely easy to play as witchdoctor & just watch teh dogs kill everything

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Sunday, 24 September 2017 20:54 (six years ago) link

I played 10 hours or so when it came out but didn't finish it

calstars, Sunday, 24 September 2017 20:56 (six years ago) link

i feel like a sucker i shouldn't be spending $30 on this kind of thing, that could go to a couple of Cold Ones with The Guys

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Sunday, 24 September 2017 20:58 (six years ago) link

I also hadn't played any since the first, thought this was much less atmospheric and regretted spending the money
