Good to know; I keep wondering where to start with the post-Panzerfaust stuff

also plaguewielder has the reputation as being the worst darkthrone record and i can see why b/c the production is clean as hell and the riffs are kind of distant and uninviting, but i don't know, i still think it's great!. "i, voidhanger"!

the underground resistance! "valkyrie"!

i'm sort of a dabbler with this band--i like transilvanian hunger and their last one, circle the wagons a bunch--but i'm really digging the new one! where should i go from here?

Dark Thrones and Black Flags? A Blaze in the Northern Sky? Pretty much can't lose with the last couple and the first 3 black metal albums.

Oh shit, yeah, PANZERFAUST is really, really good.

This time all the lyrics seem to be, again coincidentally, about Judgment, sans “Valkyrie,” which is a song to my woman.

i used to kinda hate listening to the frostland tapes (i mean, relative to their other stuff - it was still better than listening to, say, kokomo). these days it all i want to listen to, for some reason. i get really lost in it.

the correct answer to this q though is transilvanian hunger, though, obv, before anyone gets any ideas about what im saying here

I had always assumed Blaze... was considered to be THE classic, wrongly I suppose

"Underground Resistance" is awesome, we were driving around the other day and "Leave No Cross Unturned" made the drive into something epic

Looking at Darkthrone on Spotify today (more or less tr00 than CDs? I dunno!) and found that some of the albums had new covers! Plaguewielder and Ravishing Grimness at least. No more old man haunting the woods. Those are incidentally the last two DT albums I've heard -- I should get up to date some day. I do vaguely recall having heard something off FOAD.

No way. I'm starting to think that Under a Funeral Moon is just my favourite black metal album period. Such infernally catchy songs on that album.

entering this phase of fandom where I start to obsess on a band's lesser albums is as good a time as any to say that Goatlord is amazing. like a nerdy, home-recorded art-metal thesis. Ruins meets Sabbath, Darkthrone finding their way from death to black metal.
