If you were going to trim this album down to approx 60 minutes in length, which tracks would you leave off?

Gotta leave Untitled in - the rest of the guys wont have heard it before, and I'd need to explain the album's legacy (and hence that video) in my introduction to it.

Left & Right just feels jarring to me now (mainly for Method and Red, though they might be good orienting devices for one guy who's a Wu fan).

No one else at our little club has heard it at all, and I think it'll be a very difficult record to get a handle on for them.

Switch in Send it On for Africa. Untitled works as a great closer.

It's been pointed out to me that Send It On's the one with the mournful horns, so that's staying.

also never a big fan of untitled, historical importance be damned

i mean some of it is of course redundant if you know the history/mythology of the album but there's still some really good technical stuff (a lot about the timing of the drums and the bass) plus some interesting historical connections made

time being a concern is at odds with the very ethos of this album, so it doesn't even make sense to me to discuss it

I don't know. The mumbled lyrics in Devil's Pie are all "gotta get up, get outta bed, get some coffee, and go to work. I don't have time to kiss you there."

at the time ?uest says that meth & red's verses had been taken off in favor of q-tip's original one, that lauryn was still going to be on "feel like makin' love" (also says that dilla was producing it, but it sounds like the regular band to me), and mentions a bunch of interludes that didn't make the cut.

not hating on either one; calling them the weakest tracks on a top ten all time album and thematically a little off

I made people turn up early, and played the whole thing. (I was gonna skip Greatdayindamornin but that was when the takeaway arrived, so it soundtracked the unpacking and eating of Lebanese food.)

Tuneless, meandering jams that I'm sure were a blast to witness in person. Tedious in all other instances.

I drank the Kool Aid with this album. But fuck that. Just sold my original vinyl copy (played maybe thrice) for $50 the other day (dude was in the record store and was like, "Name your price!" when he saw it — in retrospect, I should've aimed higher).

Love how Maxwell has released not one, but two, albums that are better in every aspect since Voodoo came out.
