The only kickstarter that should happen is Ron Gilbert making his version of Monkey Island 3.

Oh well, I guess I am on this hype train. Pledged for the box + 2 controllers.

Nhex, Thursday, 12 July 2012 15:03 (eleven years ago) link

Nhex, Thursday, 12 July 2012 15:04 (eleven years ago) link

Nhex, Thursday, 12 July 2012 15:04 (eleven years ago) link

xp yeah - i'm going to wait and see what kind of games they get on this thing. certainly not going to sign up for the chance to play minecraft on a 7th platform

Mordy, Thursday, 12 July 2012 15:05 (eleven years ago) link

Funding hasn't started for this one yet, but I need to remember to keep my eye on it. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/07/06/mulling-mode-7-mans-management-centric-maia/

Though we cannot honor game pre-orders or mail out T-shirts without taking money in, we do want each of the 800+ of you willing to back our game to be able to have some ownership in it.

...

Pledge Level 1 - $10 – Though we cannot honor a pre-order, we would like to thank you all by letting you suggest a “Tip From Uncle Sensei” for our loading screen.

Pledge Level 2 - $25 – Because we are letting people who pledged $10 submit a Tip, we are going to let anyone who pledged $25 or more suggest up to 3 “Tips From Uncle Sensei”.

i have no idea what divekick is or what it's about, but i too would like to suggest a "tip from uncle sensei"

Divekick looks pretty hilarious, tbh. This is actually a pretty good outcome! The game comes out and nobody had to pledge any money.

Nhex, Wednesday, 1 August 2012 17:50 (eleven years ago) link

Nhex, Friday, 14 September 2012 19:43 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, excited about that and I've chipped in even those these people have a great track record when it comes to releasing games that I start, really enjoy for 10 hours, then give up on.

JimD, Friday, 14 September 2012 20:40 (eleven years ago) link

just wait until they put up a kickstarter for the patches

I bought in and watched the video. While I watched the video, they raised twenty thousand dollars.

it looks like they're 150k away from mac version. also, i'm so burnt on out developers promising mac support and then not following through. i guess that if they promise it on kickstarter they won't be able to put it off indefinitely... have any of these kickstarter games actually been made yet?

Mordy, Monday, 17 September 2012 14:20 (eleven years ago) link

whatevs. i pledged

Mordy, Monday, 17 September 2012 14:25 (eleven years ago) link

Faster Than Light was a Kickstarter project, I think. Thing about Mac support is, if they promise it at the beginning it's a lot more likely, since they can build for cross-platform from the start (as opposed to taking a year to port the engine/assets over or whatever) so I'm more optimistic in these cases. (That said, COME ON, TORCHLIGHT II, GAWD, you shoulda known better)

Amazing that Cheetahman II went over the goal, though

Nhex, Monday, 17 September 2012 14:31 (eleven years ago) link

Dude, they are getting 150k before end of day no doubt

i got the kickstarted Rohrer DS game in the mail recently. Yet to play.

FTL is certainly worth the nine bucks I got it fer on steam. Played it for 20+ hours already, which seems worth it.

Fiendish Doctor Wu (kingfish), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 02:20 (eleven years ago) link

xp yeah, i can't help but wonder what kind of recourse ppl have if they just never deliver the product. class action suit???

Mordy, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 03:31 (eleven years ago) link

I suspect that people who are fed up with waiting for things either try to obtain refunds from the project organizers or, failing that, from Kickstarter or Amazon.

crap, forgot that the only the first 25,000 donators got that free copy of Project Eternity for $20. ah, i'll chuck in $25 once it crosses 1.6 mil

Nhex, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 03:56 (eleven years ago) link

Kickstarter's policies on refunds are "GTFO" in blazing 20-foot-high letters, iirc.

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 16:51 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah they don't care, and in fact it's against their business interests to want to refund money.
