It's because Abby McDonald started a thread about it. She posted it as a mystery mp3 on her blog and asked everyone to guess who it was.

"Blank Generation" and "Heart of Glass" are both in the ILX Top 40 (tied for #38).

I think you can manually turn the plugin on and off at will so that it only logs your music.

Isn't there some way that we can communally rig our playlists so that the main audioscrobbler page doesn't show the entire top ten as Coldplay songs? I just want to save the impressionable iTunes children of the world...

do you have to do something with the plug-in here besides download it? like "plug" it into the itunes application folder??? - an idiot.

You have to set it as a start-up item in your user account settings. I'm assuming you're on OS X?

My audioscrobbler currently not updated because my PC is broke and I'm on my (hated) iBook and can't be faffed with that.

i'm on a pc. don't you have to tell itunes application to use the plug in somehow? its hard being dumb.

hmmm... I've only used it with winamp, but if can you open/click on the plug in .exe?(I'm assuming it's a standalone program, not a script (not on PC anyway) what do you get?

Maybe you need to put your details in there (username/password) before it can register your tunes at the other end?

I couldn't find any faq's on their website, so maybe theres a text file which explains some of this (there is on mac) about, is it a .zip file?

Oddly, despite saying it doesn't, it *does* register CD's played sometimes - hence weird things like "Mr C & Omid 16 B" appearing in my list so high (a free V/A Mix CD from some music mag... everything on it registered as them).
