When on a brief holiday to Dorset in 2003, I went in two pubs on Portland Bill and both had meat raffles advertised - that's advertising in the sense of saying 'why not come to the pub on Sunday, where you could win a bag of meat'.

I remember my first encounter with the concept of meat raffles. I was bemused.
