I dunno. Looks like the band has played at least a few shows every year. I guess my point was that coming aboard maybe around the "I Against I" era, even then I knew H.R. was nuts. I'd heard all the stories.

Exactly. That is EXACTLY the nature of the complaints here. You imbecile.

If you get a chance to see the movie doc, you should-- no matter when you learned about HR's mental state. As I noted upthread, there's great archival footage and there's also interesting interviews. I think the directors only have music clearances right now to show it at film festivals.

So that it's entirely clear that this isn't about back flips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWM24NTnDzs

Anyone who dons an outfit like that knows just what he's doing.

That's what the Brains think, which is why he's been kicked out of the band so often. I am less sure.

Since this was revived, I will mention that I tried listening to Black Dots, as recommended on one of the 80s rocking music poll threads, but I am just not into their songs or the vocals. I'm pretty sure I must have tried some of their other albums before. It just doesn't seem worth the effort for me.

Are there hardcore punk bands from the early 80s that you like?

curmudgeon, Friday, 28 September 2012 17:27 (five years ago) Permalink

A few. It's not like something I really listen to much any more, it just came up because of the 80s poll.

Does anyone know the HR solo albums on SST from the early nineties? Found a few of 'em really cheap, was wondering if I should pick 'em up. I love the Bad Brains, if that helps, but don't recall ever hearing HR solo.

Wimmels, Friday, 4 September 2015 18:30 (two years ago) Permalink

Just always assumed they were reggae with some metal-rock...But I never heard 'em either

curmudgeon, Tuesday, 8 September 2015 18:19 (two years ago) Permalink

HR's mid-80s solo album It's About Luv is OK, don't know any 90s ones though.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Tuesday, 8 September 2015 18:30 (two years ago) Permalink

Iirc they were all reggae?
