Disclosure is a good example of where I had lingering doubts about liking them too much which were happily resolved by the right types piling in on them.

i mean i don't find it so interesting cos the great uk bass middle class arent my grim paymasters but i can see why tim is so intrigued by the disclosure disconnect, they are as close you'll get to finding ukg interzone poster boys posited right in the middle of all the perspective matrices - unencumbered, fresh and bump n flexy for the ukg lot, hackneyed and terribly obvious for the bass wonks, and so on

likewise this q mix will doubtless be met with widespread acclaim, but the question is in doing so which perhaps notionally distant metrics does it simultaneously satisfy and how

I suspect DJ Q's crossover to FACT types is very much tied up with the extent to which he appears to free himself from the shackles of bassline, and this is the probably the least bassline (non radio) set I've heard from him.

By no longer being grounded in any one sound (especially one which is so loaded with geographical and timeline specificity as bassline) its mix of 2-step and non-bassline-but-bass-driven thug tunes and house and etc. reads - or at least can be read - as a street reflection of the collage party principle that motivates most of post-dubstep (and certainly its tropical / "funky" end).

I don't want to harsh the buzz though b/c this is a fab mix obv.
