Wait can we just take a minute to discuss motorik and Belgian new beat? ShariVari did you hear the mix 2 Many DJs did last year where they slowed a bunch of new beat records to like 105bpm?

Also I have never heard of garlic scapes in my life until I saw them at like 5 diff stands at the farmers market, and then later that night my rmm8's friend brought some over to cook with, and now you.

Oh! Was she one of those ppl paid thousands to get flown over there and then just hang out and look pretty at parties? That whole thing is so weird.

yup - i heard an interview with her and was so taken that i bought her book. now i am reading it.

game of crones (La Lechera), Wednesday, 20 June 2012 15:07 (eleven years ago) link

I might check it out. I always thought it was interesting that it actually wasn't a sex thing and that (as far as I understand it) they were treated well and showered with gifts and that for most of them the biggest problem was boredom and being away from home.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 20 June 2012 15:22 (eleven years ago) link

Oh, that's weird -- from what I gather it was definitely a sex thing. What I like about it is that she totally seems like a real person by virtue of how clearly she illustrates what was going on -- she's really good at writing about her own life and communicating who she is (or who she wants us to think she is) and also moving the story along.

Does Abbot get better? We watched the first few episodes, and it was pretty good, but still not that funny, and they seemed like they had to shoehorn in some moral of the episode thing every time.

Rabbit in the Moon rules. When this came out, it blew my mind:

goddamn i wanted to take a sick day today so badly for feeling exactly that. i didn't only because I DON'T HAVE ANY MEETINGS!!!! and i can kinda take it easy and get stoned anyways.

i've been trying to be compassionate w/ myself if i have a day or two a week when my brain doesn't really work. those days happen regardless of that compassion so i may as well give myself that latitude

If you've already seen several episodes, probably not. Part of why I love it so much is bcz it's SO fucking Philly, some of the references are p niche and sometimes I can't believe it's actually broadcast nationally.

also there are 3 Rabbit In The Moon Remixes compilations, I'm working my way thru them all but currently 3 is the winner bcz it has both that Possession remix and this one which is my current fav:
