Spin Doctors? c or d

Destroy, destroy, destroy. They were inescapable my freshman year of college and remind me of my tragic first apartment roommate, a hippie from PA who only listened to Spin Doctors and Blind Melon and thought being "a DICK" was the worst thing anyone could be, man.

Reading peoples' defenses of "Two Princes" really brings home to me how other people feel when I stan for "You Oughta Know."

There's a great Sarah Silverman episode where they discover that her gay friend who listens to tons of doom metal on his ipod actually only has one song on repeat-- "Two Princes."

lol I have a friend who is exactly this guy. Loads of doom metal on his ipod and suddenly you bump into random eurodance and corny hits from the 90s (e.g.: Two Princes, Paradisio's bailando, Real Mccoy's Another Night...).

I went to college with a guy who looked just like the singer (shaggy red hair, bushy beard, etc). People would always go up to him and say "Hey, what time is it?" He'd play along and say "Four thirtay," but I always secretly hoped he'd punch these people out.

When they were big -- I was like 11 or 12 -- I thought the singer and Alexi Lalas were the same person. I think they just melded in my mind as an archetypal "90s college kid," the kind of older guy who wore CO-ED NAKED t-shirts, played hacky sack, and practiced with devil sticks.

Heard "Two Princes" last night for the first time in an eaon on ye' olde classic rock radio and had a major brain freeze moment not being able to remember the name of this band.

I racked my skull for nearly an hour trying to remember and it kept coming up Third Eye Blind or Seven Mary Three or Primitive Radio Gods- all I knew was wrong but that was what kept coming up out of the noggin. I could remember after a bit that the same band had a hit with "Little Miss Can't be Wrong" but the band name was lost.

I guess early senior moment...I of course had to check with the tech overlords when I pulled into the driveway at home last night.

That said, I was thinking that drum shuffle in "Two Princes" was pretty good and probably one reason it was a hit.

jesus christ, this must have been one of the first threads I ever started.

my brother saw these guys shortly before the pandemic at a hotel concert. he said it was pretty hilarious. but that everybody who went was allll about the singles. well, the two biggest ones at least. not the stuff like 'Turn It Upside Down".

ahh spin doctor's i reminisce..

The brother of the singer and I were roommates in Brooklyn for a while back in the day. He was a hippie too though we had a mutual love of Black Sabbath. I remember hearing him in the shower singing "War Pigs."

My most notable Spin Doctors moment was seeing their EP record release show at Wetlands.

My most notable brother-of-the-singer-of-Spin Doctors was when we were shot at coming back from a White Castle run at 3 AM.

I got nothing against the band or the singer's brother. The guy who shot at us? A little.
