After his impressive battering of Bute, he said: 'Fighting like that, I'd beat anybody in my weight division. There's nobody that can touch me. If I catch Ward on the chin with some of the shots like I landed on Bute, it's game over. It's a simple as that.

'Andre Ward had a good night and Carl Froch had a bad night and that's the reason he won that fight.

he did but anyone can have an offnight. Plus Froch says he didn't stick to his plan.

Bute took such a beating id expect him to retire as i dont think a fighter can recover from such a hiding. The referee couldve stopped it earlier.

Paul "The Punisher" Williams, on the comeback trail after that very memorable KO by Sergio Martinez, was in a motorcycle accident today and is likely paralyzed from the waist down. He is said to be in good spirits considering the gravity of his injuries; obviously he won't be fighting Alvarez in September. He gets surgery on Wednesday, let's think good thoughts for that.

"Something like this is so outlandish, it's a death knell for the sport. This is f------ nuts. I have both guys, and I'll make a lot of money in the rematch, but it's ridiculous. You have these old f---- who don't know what the hell they're looking at. It's incompetence. Nobody who knows anything about boxing could have Bradley ahead in the fight."

two weeks pass...

Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia tonight. Amir Khan seems like a really fucking unpleasant person to me, his press conference post-Peterson was just ugggghhhh, but he'll probably win.

He's a chinny sore losing fuck but is great to watch.

Missing Haye vs Chisora tonight - was hoping one would have just decked the other at the weigh in tbh. Damming indictment of the heavyweights that one of these clowns might get another title shot.

perry en concrète (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 15 July 2012 03:35 (eleven years ago) link

Khan showed incredible heart for the rest of that round but got knocked down again and couldn't answer Bayliss satisfactorily on the "are you OK?" fucking brilliant performance by Garcia against Khan who looked in the 1st round like he was going to take out Garcia by the middle of the fight at the latest

seriously wish this tendency of interviewers at matches & super bowls & world series post-games to ask "how do you feel right now?" would end, or that athletes would say "I feel terrible...so much death in the world" or something. "How do you feel right now?" fuckin ugh

Black_vegeta (Hungry4Ass), Sunday, 15 July 2012 04:30 (eleven years ago) link

Q: how do you feel right now?

A: Are you speaking of these nasty welts and bruises and the fact that my teeth hurt or did you mean something more ethereal?

"walk us through how it feels to become champion of the world" is I think an exact phrasing I've heard on this once. haaaaaaate it

nakhchivan, Sunday, 15 July 2012 16:43 (eleven years ago) link

khan has crazy offensive skills but not much heart really it seems like, he just wilts when somebody finds a way to counter him

perry en concrète (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 15 July 2012 17:05 (eleven years ago) link

it looked like he was gone after the 2nd knockdown there

i think he has enough heart but no sense of timing or patience at all, he would never have lost any of his fights if he had a bit more caution and sense

in a way this might help him cuz if he got mayweather (was that every going to happen idk) he would have got schooled

nakhchivan, Sunday, 15 July 2012 17:09 (eleven years ago) link

Despite dominating the fight against an old blind man he still hung his chin out for the left hook again. He makes for excellent viewing but I maintain his chin will be his undoing. When Willie Limond is flooring you with hooks you know you've got problems.

I was just watching some footage of Khan warming up in his dressing room and he's slipped a few left hooks - seems he's finally got round to looking at his own weaknesses.

Not sure I can stay awake for it :(

― Insane Clown 2 Electric Juggalo (onimo), Sunday, 12 December 2010 03:33 Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

Looks like he forgot about those left hooks again. He's game and powerful and fast and exciting to watch but any half decent counter-puncher will get a few goes at that left hook that's been flooring Khan since he was a kid.
