Probably the one I finally found for dirt cheap on Ebay : Sylvian/Sakamoto "Bamboo Music/Bamboo Houses"

I've got three small boxes of them, maybe 150-200 in total. A few that are probably a little rare: the Cramps' "Drug Train," the Germs' "Forming," Sid Vicious's "C'mon Everybody," Husker Du's "Statues," Half Japanese's "Calling All Girls" (nine songs!), some early Black Flag and Angry Samoans. If I had to save one from a fire, I'd probably grab "Drug Train."

one month passes...

When I was a kid I would buy cutout 45s, five in a plastic bag so you could only see the outer two. I ended up with everything from Buddah records bubblegum to jazz (I had Ella Fitzgerald doing “Mack The Knife” live in Berlin.)

I loved the crap out of this one. It had a Part A and Part B to fit the whole 7+ minutes on one 45. Me being "progressive" when I was about 11.

after DJing last week with a friend who has a lot of cool 45s, I now want to get more 45s

dmr, Friday, 6 July 2012 16:26 (eleven years ago) link

i should have posted this on here:

Ry Cooper aka Rusty Evans - "1983" (futuristic garage folk rock from 1965 with killer snarl/guitar and theremin!)

that was dumb of me. nobody cares about cool music on ilm. and amateurist is insane.

that's great, i want a copy!

i'm selling some 45s for a guy i know and that was one of them. i definitely want it. i was just gonna put everything of his online but then i play stuff and fall in love...

he had all these wlp 60's 45s and i was just gonna make up a price off of the top of my head and buy them but i had no idea what some of them were worth. so, since i like the guy, i told him i would put them up on ebay and we're gonna split the proceeds. fun stuff to go through. cool soul and garage 45s. teen pop. stuff i never see.

scott seward, Friday, 6 July 2012 17:17 (eleven years ago) link

man, that sounds like a lot of fun!

it's the kind of work i like doing! and we will both benefit. it will be fun to see europe and asia duke it out for some of these.

seriously most of the 'nice' records i sell on ebay go overseas.

i sure as heck can't sell them in my store. a little bit at record shows.

Great question, fun answers. I have been collecting 45s since I was a tot and my granddad had a jukebox. Have to go through my stash, we always had a habit of grabbing the "weird" ones in my family.

I liked creepy oldies the best:
