the publishing industry only wants to promote major label writers like pitchfork and callaifa and that philip sherbet guy. they hold me down cuz i'm bald and like emo. so what if i wear the same cords everyday. you major magazines have no dick. don't compare me to l. bangs. i'm not like him i am like everything.

Hi, someone just registered under my name where..so this is my last post, I have to breakdown a 650 pound sound booth today, because I am moving to a house on a lake..
it is a great house.
but Bela Fleck is in Mass, or Rhode Island today. the chance of him writing on here today is high.
so all I can say to Bela Fleck. Is hi Bela....
I like you too., believe it or not.
But I am not running after men these days. ..including Crispin who I just like as an actor.

What goes wrong when trying to make music...

Marissa, we go waaaay back!

Bela Fleck, Saturday, 6 August 2005 19:47 (eighteen years ago) link

yes, Bela, how do we know it is you?
you are suppose to be playing in Rhode island today?
we go way back to what?
and I don't like being snowed..
like you are someone else making believe that you are Bela?
We never had an affair Bela.
an hour of lusting perhaps..through only the eyes..
and senses. but that isn't something that you would remember is it?
Hope you have fun down there in Rhode Island, I am spending my time packing...moving very shortly.
nowhere too far.
but what do you want Bela?
I am not going to play games on the net with you.
I am thinking of ending this on Monday, because nothing seems to be working under the name Marissa Marchant and I made some mistakes on the net and want to start over. And anyway, you are not interested in me.
Bela Fleck is not interested in me as a woman, and neither is Nicolas.
There isn't anyone who isn't in me..but I feel happy anyway.
I have this great house at the lake and my music and family...
some friends..the mouse..the cat...some friends that kind of care...
beside animals.
bye Bela...I can't take this anymore. I don't like the games and anon names on the net. I don't like people playing with emotions.
It is a very unhealthy thing the net is.
You are not interested in me. I am attracted to you but to what degree I don't know, I don't know you.

On monday or Tuesday..I am changing my stage name...titles..lyrics..bio etc and email account...
then in a few weeks..I will not have the same phone number or fowarding number and I am never listed...
so You won't be able to contact me.
If this really is Bela Fleck, you could be up playing right now..and if you so affectionately involved with me, then contact me soon, because I am not interested in these games going on for much longer.
I am a person who is very direct ..I like to perform..but the disrespect out there and our culture of disrespectful people ...especially men , is very draining. You can see how many disrespectful men spew out their crap on me here on I love music.

the real; reallllll marissa marchant, Saturday, 6 August 2005 23:12 (eighteen years ago) link

This is all a game and disrespect. no one cares if they never hear my music again. ..all they care about is wanting to be able to mock and abuse me on the net.

they like to abuse, and that is there form of entertainment...they don't give a damn if they ever see or hear about me ever again.

I have to continue to change names here, because people are taking my names and registering under different names.

sad..bye now..I am not checking back here anymore. monday is the final day

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Saturday, 6 August 2005 23:55 (eighteen years ago) link

this song has one extra revolution 2 many. which is too bad b/c its greatest otherwise is astounding.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Sunday, 7 August 2005 00:01 (eighteen years ago) link

what do you mean by one extra revolution 2 many? i like the song so much i have a hard time imagining something wrong with it (other than, i guess, the glorification of murder)

Lugoi, Sunday, 7 August 2005 00:08 (eighteen years ago) link

its a really reaaly great song. glorification of violence issue a non-issue. my problem with it is: incredible verse, fairly incredible short chorus, out of this world guitar solo which cools down, then back again with more incredibly lyrics, the chorus, creepy low-laying guitar solo leading up to something maybe more insane.....but then he just repeats again and then it ends. i think its a really odd structure choice for this song. it should have been much shorter or much much longer and slightly veering but repeating over and over and over again. but it was geared toward pop and blues structure, I guess. there seems to be some struggle on that album with making pop songs and wanting to make the songs he'd later write which were much more sprawling and a-structured.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Sunday, 7 August 2005 00:40 (eighteen years ago) link

Gotcha. I bet part of the struggle for Neil was coming off the disappointing sales of his self-titled solo debut, and while he wanted to stretch way, way out (like he'd done with "Last Trip to Tulsa" and "Broken Arrow" on BS' Again), he figured he had to earn the clout to do that first. A sidelong "Down by the River" or "Cowgirl in the Sand" might have seemed too risky. Who knows though.

Lugoi, Sunday, 7 August 2005 00:50 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah that makes sense.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:04 (eighteen years ago) link

I really feel I am lying to you Marissa. I don't love you or intend to ever contact you. I also don't care if you change your name and I can't find you.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:10 (eighteen years ago) link

phew, pretty unchained on "cowgirl in the sand". god, i love the sound of the guitar on this album...so gnarly -esp. on this song and with his voice unusually so much sweeter and layered than it normally is. i kinda like it when he's trying to sing good! oh neil, i guess my internet love letter to you resides here. but bless you, you've fucked it up again at the end.

hello cowgirl in the sand
is this place at your command?

old enough now to change your name
when so many love you
is it the same
its the woman in you
that makes you want to play this game.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:22 (eighteen years ago) link

I hate Marissa Marchant.
I love only signed acts like Neil Young, and I am like all of you, I don't care if I ever hear about little Marissa ever again, especially when we can continue to hear oldies for eternity.
I never tire of hearing oldies. You don't either.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:26 (eighteen years ago) link

Neil Young is much more sophisticated then Marissa and much more diverse. Let's talk about Neil Young and ignore Marissa Marchant, I am so happy Marissa is changing her identity to get rid of us, because I love listenin to rustics like Neil Young.
Don't you love rustics. I do.
They rule.
Marissa is never goin to make it.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:28 (eighteen years ago) link

I love the song Southern Man.
I love livin in Nashville.

I love Pattin Griffin, and I really don't like Marissa's style at all.

Neil Young rules. This little woman is never goin make it.
Marissa is just a little woman.
Hey Marissa, please let me pay you to get you to get off the net, so I don't have to listen to you anymore.
Neil Young is so much better then Marissa by herself.
What a voice he has wow.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:31 (eighteen years ago) link

i'm sorry marissa/bela.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:35 (eighteen years ago) link

I just played the Newport folk festival, and people like Marissa just don't fit in. I love all the line ups. I never get bored.
I don't see why Marissa doesn't love American music. This is my bread and butter.
The cash feels good between my fingers and toes.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:38 (eighteen years ago) link

the only way you would think that I was Marissa if you knew that this wasn't Bela, because YOU are Bela.
Bela, does it feel good to get revenge?
Go date some grass girls in a grass band, and hide your dime somewhere.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:41 (eighteen years ago) link

Susan/Bela has nothing to do as he rides the bus to New york State.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:43 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah, between shooting his lady dead down by the river, and the "woman in you" game-playing comment, Neil comes off somewhat misognyist on that album.

Lugoi, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:44 (eighteen years ago) link

Most men like myself can live without women happily. I ride the bus everywhere without women, without making love, without any intimacy with a woman.
but I am happy. Most men love being with other men.
I enjoy spending my time with male friends, and I find being with women painful and unhappy.
Most men on this board, are not attracted to Marissa's photos, they mostly think about shooting women down by the river.
aka I love music board.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Bela, I am a man attracted to women singers who can discuss nothing but themselves. It's so interesting.

Lugoi, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:50 (eighteen years ago) link

xxost. as wrong-headed as they maybe are, i think his songs about women are very tender. but yeah.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:52 (eighteen years ago) link

I love you Bela.
I miss you. I want to touch you, feel you, caress you in the moonlight.

I love you Bela!!!!!!! I have always desired to be with you.
You disappointed me. You married it.
"it"
you disappointed me.

Bela Fleck, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:56 (eighteen years ago) link

The closer he came to marrying Pegi, the sweeter his love songs seemed to become. Comes a Time has some really pretty ones, "Already One" being the most obvious.

Lugoi, Sunday, 7 August 2005 02:00 (eighteen years ago) link

We are divorced now. I married "it"
and it was very unhappy,

My first love is myself.
I love you Bela.

I have more talent then Neil Young, so stop talking about him.

I have always love me.
Bela has always been first in my life.

That is why I am made it.

Love has not been first. But I love me.

I am the only one I rely on.

Hey, Marissa's website has been taken down.
She has some really great material, one called Page Blue. It is blues and very excellent and a song called Will.

she blows alot of people away as a writer, she doesn't write one style of music, but writes many. You will be missing out on hearing new material, because you decided to close your mind to excellent female writers by insulting one. but she doesn't care.
She is my friend.
We spend time together.
I will have the priviledge of knowing her new website.
You won't. Keep talking about the Beatles here. dummies.

YOU ARE AND WILL ALWAYS BE A REJECTED DEMO, MARISSA!!!!!!

hstеncil, Sunday, 7 August 2005 11:06 (eighteen years ago) link

Hi, I have turned down record contracts. I wouldn't sign with any major label. They would make my music sound trite, commerical, sappy and overly -produced.
They are not into Art....
Just like Crispin Glover..he turned down the sequel to Back to the Future.
Why? because he knew that his character would be over-played and it would ruin the whole purpose of his performance in the first movie. He is a genius.
Or just very brilliant.
He is independent.
I am not worried about my demos...I have a fifty thousand dollar studio and waiting for Avalon to send me this fantastic piece of gear....
I am sure I will do well.
I already have the atention of people in Venice, and people from different countries.
I sing in different Languages so that will help to broad my scope in the future....I am about to move to a quiet place so I can really record. But you won't be able to abuse me anymore, or have the benenit of hearing good, fresh, new music, because you abuse people.

marissssa marchantttt, Sunday, 7 August 2005 13:15 (eighteen years ago) link

this is really the artist, the former name Marissa Marchant that someone stole and registered under.

I would never sign a major label contract unless I had some artistic freedom.

they don't promote anyone who mixes world music into their music right now.
I don't play irish celtic music...
I play fusion and progressive music alot of the time, or some of the time. They don't have ANY progressive and fusion singer/ writers.
They would have me change my style to be more of a clone.
they don't allow for enough aritstic freedom in todays music industry.

They are overly producing their albums right now.
I don't like alot of the backround instrumentation....
or it is one dimentional..the whole album has the same instruments through out.
They just like piano, guitar, bass and drums...
There is more to music then just that.Major Labels and indies of suck will always be rejected by creative artists, unless they try not to be some predictable, clonish, and narrow.

marissssa marchantttt, Sunday, 7 August 2005 13:21 (eighteen years ago) link

You will always be rejected by creative and gifted artists..because you are narrowminded, clonish, and not open minded.
You people are just like the record industry people.
they have no imagination, no indivisuality.
No passion for anything new and fresh. BTW, have fun listening to reruns and oldies...
because you don't have the priviledge of hearing my fresh, original and creative music.
I want a different group of people on my site.

marissssa marchantttt, Sunday, 7 August 2005 13:24 (eighteen years ago) link

How does it feel to be rejected by one of the finest artists in the world today.
? MM doesn't give a flip about people like you.
MM is starting a new life with her fifty thousand dollar studio. She couldn't record in Boston. She is moving to a bigger house with quiet and you will not hear the end results of her.
because you are not encouraging.
I think she will find some drummers and other musicians where she is moving to help her. but you will not have the priviledge of hearing her new music.
You will only hear the same old remakes and reruns of old music and trashy, sappy artists with little imagination.
Of course, if the majors and indies decide to get a book out and become musically educated ..things might change.

youarerejectedbyMM, Sunday, 7 August 2005 14:15 (eighteen years ago) link

Marissa, how does it feel to be possessed by a talent the magnitude of which is so sublime the wannabes on this site can only deride it, like so many jealous dogs barking at a princess parading down a golden street? It must be sweet!

Buck Overpharoah, Sunday, 7 August 2005 14:53 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't think adding an extra 's' and 't' to your name is really going to fool your detractors, Mariss(ss)a. I think you'll need to be a little more drastic than that.
